In January I will have been on Met for two years. I really, really feel better on it. I gradually over the months went from 500 a day to 1500mgs, and for the last four cycles have been on XR. I thought I was doing great expect for the fact that I was still not ovulating. Just in the last month I added Vitex and NPC to my routine just to see if it would help me o and have shorter afs. (She likes to hang around for two weeks!)
To make a long story short. I have always had problems staying dry under my armpits. However, I was never to the point I have been during this past month where my shirts are soaked all the way down the sides. I am mortified when this happens. Funny thing is, it is only happening at work. And yes, I LOVE my job!
Anyway, I saw my dr today (not RE because he pretty much said do injects or there is nothing else I can do for you). Well my pcp told me it was from too much Met. That it is because my blood sugar is getting too low and that I need to cut back to 1000mgs a day. He also suggested I take bcp's to help regulate my cycle instead of Met altogether. I said "no way!" Then he said what about Depo-Vera (? spelling). I again told him "no way!" I think he was getting exasperated with me. He said how about taking nothing and just having af every six months or so, and then he handed me a form for blood work (CBC, etc) and said he'd call me with the results. What is this? My dh said I need to find a new pcp, but I think I need an endo, but how can I get the darn referal when drs treat me as if I'm clueless?
Thanks for letting me rant,

Profuse sweating can be caused by hypoglycemia, so a dosage decrease could be a good decision, but if you say you've been struggling with this for years, your labs should be an indicator of if a dosage decrease is best for you. Did he order fasting glucose or insulin tests? If so, I would discuss this with him when you get them back. If not, I would get another opinion.
And stick to your guns about the bcp and depo, Christy. It may not be the standard protocol for PCOS to refuse these, but I'm living proof that it is possible to have great success on other methods.
Good luck!

He ordered a CBC, comrehensive metabolic panel, and a TSH. I know he said he wanted to check my thyroid. I guess I am just sick of having this done over and over. And always I'm within normal limits but just barely. I know last time I had blood work, while on Met, my insulin was 7, and my lh/fsh ratio was 1.5 to 1 which was pretty good. This time he's not even testing my lh/fsh.
And yes I'm sticking to my guns about bcp's. Everytime I've been on them I have had severe migraines. The kind that distort your vision. I have a perscription for Inderal now due to them. And on top of the headaches, I spot just about everyday. No thanks! You couldn't pay me take them!
So I guess I'll have the blood work done and see what happens.
Thanks,
