No drug is going to get rid of what you already have. There are other removal methods such as laser and electrolysis, which is permanent. I take birth control in combination with 150 mg of spironolactone (aldactone) a day. Spironolactone is an androgen blocker so it will prevent new hair from coming in, but it won't help what's already grown. I've been on that drug combination for 6 years, and I've only noticed excessive urination as a side effect, because spiro is a diuretic. It is recommended that you watch your potassium intake while on spiro as it is a potassium-sparing, salt wasting drug, but personally I have never bothered to have my potassium levels tested. If you go under other medications on the forum you'll find tons of information on spiro/aldactone. That drug, in conjunction with BCPs, is the most common treatment used for PCOS. Hope this helps.
I tried that Vaniqa stuff before my wedding. I used it about 3 months before hand. My hair is everywhere on my face, black, and very coarse normally. Vaniqa did help soften and lighten it a little bit. Not as much to say "peach fuzz," but at least I didn't look "bruised" (pale skin, dark hair. I am smooth-shaven and you can still see the black roots )However, my insurance didn't pay for it, so I basically took it bacuse I knew people would be kissing me at my wedding. It cost me about $100/month. I had to use a lot of it, though. I would still be using it if I could afford it, I think.
ive been on spiro about 5 years. It has helped with the hair, but it is still there. My endo said that it takes 9-12 months to get to maximum result. hope this helps

Thanks ladies I wish i could take birth control as it might help normalise my hormone levels but due to a blood clotting disorder i can't take any. I might look into spiro i take met & that does nothing
