One of the local hospitals and the American Diabetic Association had a diabetic fair at the mall today. I have type 2 diabetes. I went and got 2 bags full of information and talked to several people there. There was a Foot Dr. there that I talked to. Told her that i have really dry feet on the bottom of my feet. She said to soak my feet in white vinager mixed with water for 20 mins then use a soft tooth brush to rub dead skin off the bottom of your feet and then put on shea butter on your feet and then wrap your feet with plastic wrap to hold the mostiure in and then put socks on. She recommended do it and then going to bed. She said she does it and it really works. Just thought i'd pass it on. I have tried everything even bought expensive diabetic lotion and nothing has worked for me before. She said yeah they don't really work. Hope this helps you all!

Shea butter is amazing! I wear Birk clogs with no socks and my heels get so dry and cracked. I used to try to file my heels down but it didn't really help. Slathering on Shea butter before bed has made all the difference in the world.

Thanks for sharing that information. I need to buy some shea butter and give it a try. Maybe it will also work on my dry hands. My skin is awful when my insulin levels are high.

I got a jar of it at Walmart on the aisle with the scented shower gels/lotions. Mine is in a jar and cost about $4-$5. I've used it regularly and still have lots left.

Hi
Ok I know this is going to sound WAY off the wall LOL but...
When I used to take the kids to the wading pool in the summer, I'd walk around the edges to cool off and over a couple of years noticed that the callus/dry skin on my feet that I got in the winter and could never get rid of, was totally gone from just a day or 2.
I figure it might be a combination of walking in water on concrete, and the chlorine /chemicals they use.
Maybe you could check it out at a local swimming pool to see if it might help with your dry feet?
I know ... off the wall. LOL
Is there someone that swims regularly but still has dry feet? Please let me know!

Thanks, I'm going to Walmart later today so I'll be sure to look for it there!

My husband has really dry feet and nothing works for him (I use e45 and bedsocks which does the trick for me) but whenever we go on a beach holiday his feet are 100% better.
I think it's down to the sand and salt water but we haven't been able to replicate this at home.
Eva I know that the body shop do a really good shea butter, is about £10 but lasts for ever

Waving hand here. I've been taking a water aerobics class every Saturday mroning for the past 5 months, but haven't noticed an improvement with my dry feet. Though, it is easier to scrape some of the dry skin off my heels right after the class after they've been in the water for an hour.
This might be the same thing as Shea butter, but I use this stuff called Cocoa Butter. It works very very well. It is made by Simply Basic and I got it at Walmart as well. You can get it in 100ml and 200ml jars, and it lasts forever.
