Default Dry, sore skin on knuckles?

This just started a few days ago, I have never had it before in my life. I tried a hand cream with aloe vera but it made it sting and go even redder. Now there are a couple of tiny blood spots where it is starting to crack and bleed. It is only on one hand :s

Help!!! What is this? What can I use to clear it up? Thanks xx

Have you tried cetaphil?? It’s a fragrance free lotion that has saved my skin ( I have psoriasis on my elbows so I’ve tried MANY lotions) lol It’s a bit costly, like $11-12 for 16 oz but a little goes a long way. Also, for the cuts/cracks you’ve got, use Neosporin or a first aid cream to heal the open cracks (putting a bandaid on top). Then, you can apply lotion around the bandaid area to help with skin dryness. Once your open sores heal keep applying the lotion and your hands will feel amazing!

coconut oil (cold-pressed from natural/organic foods store) might help...just take it straight from the jar and apply. I know several people who do this for their severely dry skin and it works wonders for them.

I get that whenever winter's been hanging around for a bit and the temp really drops, with not much moisture in the air. I put on an oil, like coconut or jojoba, and then a petroleum-based hand cream over it. I then stick my hand in these all-cotton gloves I bought (socks work, too) and sleep like that. Usually my hands are much better when I wake up; sometimes it takes more than one night. Moisturize often!
