Lightbulb Dry ugly cracked feet...diabetes?

I have dry ugly cracked, scaly feet...my toes included. It is a running joke in my house that if my feet touch anyone, the will have the disease....

But my question is? If you have Diabetes do you have this symptom? Or IR?

I am new here and just found out that I am border line Type II, my feet have been dry and cracked for a few years now... I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I have always had trouble with my feet being dry and cracked. It only gets worse. i have had type II for almost 7 years now. i have to watch what kind of shoes i buy. Good Luck just keep your feet clean and dry and hopefully it won't be so bad.

My heels are a mess and have been for ten years or so. Sometimes, they crack so badly, they bleed. Then I end up picking at the dead skin (ick, I know) and making things worse. Of course, I have a really bad habit of not wearing socks or hose. I've found that if I moisterize my feet every morning and night and work them over with a hard pumice stone after I shower, they don't get so bad.

I have the same problem. They think that I have diabetes since I have found about GD so soon in my pregnancies. My mother has diabetes and she also has the same problem.

I too was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year and my feet have been dry, cracked and scaly for years. Also just in the last week I have noticed that my feet and ankles have been swelling really bad and I have never had that before, could that also be because of the diabetes? I put my feet up and they go down. I have never retained water before and when I press on the skin it does not stay indented. I used to get pedicures, but haven't been in years and when I would go about every two weeks, it seemed like the dryness and cracking eased up alot.

I used to have dry scratchy feet. But about two years ago I started using Dr. Scholls peppermint foot lotion every day before I go to bed. In the summer I use it more often, and also use a pumace stone. I've never known anyone who had to put as much work into their feet as me! My mom wears vaseline to bed on her feet with socks over them, and hers are still a littel dry. I like the peppermint smell much better! I put it on my elbows and knees too.
I was just diagnosed Type II last Thursday, so maybe this was a symptom. I was just doing a good job of keeping it under control.

I have type II diabetes and have also had problems with my feet being dry and cracked. About two years ago I told my endocrinologist about it and she gave me a prescription for a lotion called Lac-hydrin. It is a miracle lotion. It heals my feet with just a few days of using it. You have to use it continuously or your feet will go right back to being dry and cracked but it really helps. Its worth asking the doctor for a prescription for it!!

And yes dry cracked feet can be a result of diabetes. I don't know if I would consider it a symptom but it is definitely a side effect.

hello all. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and I have been for the past 2 years. my feet are so rough they sound like sand paper if I rub them together and dh said he is sure I can start a fire with my feet. I use a pumice stone like most of you and I coat my feet with pure shea butter and cover with socks before bed. It's kinda pricey but really worth it. you need to go to a herbalist or order it online. It's not something that is sold in a lot of stores.

Hello, I have had problems with my feet cracking and bleeding since I was a teen. A few years ago my foot doctor told me it was a form of athletes foot and to use lamisil on them. Since they have been doing alot better.
