You don't actually have to create a new post to test your code change. You can make the code change, then find a post with your signature in it - it will be updated.

yeah, i realized that later. that's what i thought, but then my sig didn't appear on my old posts so i thought it didn't update old posts. can't believe i can't figure this out, i do this stuff for a living! maybe i can blame it on the pcos... | |

with these types of things there's usually 3 different tag lines that you can cut and paste from. try a different one from the one you've already done...and make sure you copied the whole code or it won't work.
