Hi all
Well I used to post here and have not been back in a while.
I had a beautiful baby girl in Nov 04 after 2 years of trying.
Since then we have not used birth control and have been hard at it since Jan 07.
Well anyway....my reason for posting...
I have had enough...the drugs are too much. Emotionally, physically.
We want to move to domestic adoption.
We had filed papers years ago and were told when we were ready could just go ahead and call them back and they will put us back on the list.
Well I have done that with no return call yet.
I am wondering has anyone done this? Will they make us wait the 18 months again?
Once I get the call, I know everyeone's wait time is different? but how logn between your classes did your adoption take place? Or did it at all?
My husband and I really would like a child 2 and under. I do not want to repalce my daughter as the oldest. for now anyway.....
Well during typing I got a call, looks like the process has since changed in 3 years and he has to speak to his supervisor to see whether we have to reapply thru their new process.....great....i'm trying to stay positive that they will justtake our application....
Can anyone give me information on PRIDE. This is the program he called it..
I'm going to google it too.

I am in Durham. We were signed up for CAS domestic a long time ago. We were kicked off the list while waiting for China and havent bothered to reapply. We are going for #3 now but adopting again from China.
The PRIDE program .. *sigh* I fear giving my opinion here would not be good. Its $1300.00 .. if that gives you any idea how I feel about it....

I thought local adoptionthru durham CAS was free.......

It is free to adopt thru CAS. However the PRIDE training is not. Double check with your CAS contact but....last I heard it was $1300 for that training.
I dont have too many opinions about adoption thru CAS. My friend completed an adoption successfully with them and they have a wonderful son now (he was 18 months at adoption) but I dont know too many of the details. We tried like i said and were very unsuccessful and then as soon as they figured out we were adopting overseas they dropped us like a hot potato !! LOL
Is there anything specific I could try to answer ?

Thanks for replying.
I dont have any specific questions now....
I'm waiting to hear back from CAS regarding the PRIDE program. He did mention it but DID NOT mention any costs.
I wish I had $10K around I would go private.....
I have 7 adopted cousins from CAs but both Aunts did foster to adopt. I just don't think I could do it....i think I would be heart broken after years of looking after a little one and have them taken away...
I will keep you updated...

Well I heard from the agency today....
They are sending out new forms for police check and medical history to be filled out.
They also said that because we had already waited the alloted time they would credit us for that so if we can get all the paperwork in by the end of Feb we can start the classes on Feb 26th.
I asked her about the fee she said that it is free. You can pay for it privately if you would like (some poeple choose to if they are still waiting).
I am so excited.....I almost offered to go pick up the documents I am so excited :happy
I pray that we get all the infomration in time and everything goes as planned, now i have to tenitively plan for a sitter for 9 weeks on a Tuesday night

For police checks its gone up in price...$30 cash with 2 pieces of ID for each of you...They are coming back fairly quickly though (I just got ours done)
