Default dx probs for thin pcos-ers?

have any of you ever had problems being treated (or, for that matter, GETTING treatment in the first place) for pcos because you're thin?

i've had one doctor tell me flat-out that pcos, aside from my hormone imbalance, is only a real problem for women who are overweight. a real knee-slapper, that one!

i've also recently read that thin pcos-ers are more difficult to treat effectively. i'm wondering if it's because we would tend to be diagnosed later?

what are your thoughts?

I think getting dx'd later is part of the problem with treating us. I think the other part is that there aren't any lifestyle changes that can help us. Usually low-carb'ing won't help us like it would a heavy cysters, and losing weight isn't an option.

I read your other thread too ... I'm glad you found a doctor that is treating you the right way

I was very lucky that my obgyn tested me immediately for PCOS when I went in for my annual exam. My cycles were 70+ days. I did not have any of the other symptoms associated with PCOS. Frankly, I was shocked when she told me that I have PCOS. The doctor had to convince me that I had PCOS because I did not believe it. However, blood tests do not lie.

I am also glad that you have found a doctor that you like. I hope you are receiving the care you deserve!
