Default Earaches and Amoxicllin

I went to the ER saturday night and I have earache and man does it hurt.Im wondering how long it takes for the amoxiclllin to kick in and how long before the actual earache goesaway...I cant even chew thats how bad this is.The ER doc said if im still not feeling any better monday then im suppose to go see my family doc .

it usually takes a day or two to start feeling better! try a hot water bottle and some tylenol!

With me it depends alot on WHY I have an earache. If it is from a regular ear infection, it works in a day or two. If it is an earache from my ear not draining (which is the kind I get the most, and these often accompany upper respiratory illnesses), then amoxicillin really doesn't touch the earache and I need a decongestant to get it feeling better. I use generic Robitussin that is ONLY guaifenesin.

Good luck! I hope you start feeling better soon. An earache really ruins your whole day!
