I get lethargic also. I had a hard time driving home from school after being in classes all day. I did try eating cottage cheese before I started driving and it didn't help much. Now, I have my next two semesters on-line to make it easier. Then I only have to go to school to take tests

Sound like hypoglycemia to me, too. I had the same problem, even though I didn't test out as IR on the official tests. Don't drive after a big meal or lots of sugary carbs!

I'd get this checked out by a doctor and also try to use a insulin meter to check your own levels. (I found I would be borderline low when I got tired, learned I could self correct by eating a tiny bit of sugary stuff - a sip or two of orange juice- plus some protein. But if I was really out of wack, after a big meal, I would just have to "sleep it off")

I started Met and a drug for depression/mood swings and the combo totally improved my energy level. I now function on a more constant level!

Also check out narcolepsy with your doctor...it's another "marker" for genetic metabolic problems. My aunt had this (and would fall asleep driving...). Meds can help.

I have checked my levels and they were fine. Stayed pretty much in the 80s-90s range. Never went below 76 even in the morning when I first got up. Mine did go too high once when I first started on met and messed up my sight. Didn't realize I was late taking my met until I checked my levels.

I used to be really bad this way-- the worst culprit wasn't the sugar, but was wheat. There was one afternoon I fell into a deep, deep 4-hour sleep!

Now that I've cleared my body of yeast/bacteria/candida problems, and switched to a gluten-free low-GI diet, the sleeping problem rarely happens. It took me the better part of a year to get it all under control, though, and involved taking anti-fungal drugs, colon clensing, diet and exercise improvements and supplementing vitamins and probiotics.
