I have been looking for information on PCOS and eating disorders. I haven't found anything. I know there must be other women who share my struggles with food and self esteem. I would love to hear from you!
Somewhere I have an article on the link between PCOS and binge eating. I will do some searching and try to find it later. If I find it, I'll post some of the highlights for you. I definitely remember reading there is a link. Now, where did I put it?

Hi there. Recovering bullimic here. I knew my eating disorder was related to my depression which I now link of course with my PCOS... that's the only connection I've ever made. But I'm interested in talking to you about this! E
I definitely have eating problems, I tend to binge eat, I was bulimic for a while in my late teens and it is all related to depression. I hope I can heal or learn to deal my eating disorders when treating my depression with meds and counselling.

Sorry, I've looked and looked and I can't find this article. I think it may have been misplaced when I remodeled my office. So sorry, but if I find it I'll pop in and let you know.
I wish I remembered the specifics, but I do know that these authors discussed a link between binge eating, emotional overeating and PCOS. Sorry I can't help out here, but I hope you get the info you're looking for.
I struggle with emotional overeating and have had problems with binge eating at different times of my life. I'm trying hard to break the link, but it seems so easy to fall back into those bad habits.

I am definitely an emotional eater. I feel so much better when I eat (good stuff like pizza, mexican, etc). I am really working on it but it is so hard to do. I have a lot of emotional issues....anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, etc but then I guess most of us here do.

I was anorexic for almost 3 years. As soon as I started gaining weight back to a healthy weight (i'm still thin, but within a normal range), my PCOS symptoms started showing. I wonder if the eating disorder somehow triggered the PCOS. I gained over ten pounds (from a sickly 91 pounds to around 105), and that's when I started getting facial hair.
I am currently seeing a therapist for compulsive overeating/binge eating disorders. Took me a while to admit to myself that this was a problem. (Doesn't everyone know that if you ignore a problem it goes away? )
I think they are probably more linked than people think. I read thru another message board for eating disorders, and yes, every once in a while I run across a PCOS'er. Interesting, huh?
I comfort eat. I either feel the urge to comfort eat & binge or try and starve myself in the ridiculous hope that it might help me be thinner... I have struggled with this since I was about 12 y.o. I find it hard to stick to eating 'normally' or what I know my body will remain a constant weight on so it tends to have the yo-yo effect. I never admitted this in public before.
