I was diagnosed with bulimia about a year ago, but have been bingeing for the last 17 years.
Basically I had a nervous breakdown a year ago and so was referred to a clinical psychologist, he diagnosed bulimia. I have now been seeing him for a year and feel like a totally different person. I very rarely binge anymore and I weigh myself once in a blue moon (used to be 2-3 times a day), as a general rule bulimia usually is a symptom of an underlying mental health problem, once you address this the bulimia gets easier to cope with/not such an issue anymore.
This is my experience and obviously we're not all the same. If you need to chat to someone who's been there please feel free to pm me.

Hi there,

If you're struggling with an eating disorder, please don't feel like you're alone. Get some help. I see you're in England: you might find the Eating Disorders Association helpful; they have a website and a helpline:

http://www.edauk.com/Home

I have read that women with PCOS have a higher tendency to bulimia than other women.

Take care,
Alex

Hi there. I had ED-NOS (anorexic tendancies, but never meeting the weight requirements as I was rather overweight when it developed; and later I started showing bulimic tendancies) as a teenager, from about 17-20 y.o. It was (partly) the PCOS inability to lose weight any other way that started it, then it grew into a diet-gone-wrong. Very quickly got out of my control.

I'm happy to say it's not an issue for me anymore -at all(I'm almost as heavy as I was before any of that **** developed, but it doesn't really bother me -a true sign that I'm fully recovered . I found anti-depressants were a godsend, once the right one was found. They don't solve everything, but they do help you cope.)
