Red face eating disorders , possible link to pcos ?

I am a new ! Diagnosed with pcos in march of 06 . I am so glad to finally have an answer to my symptoms ! I am an athlete that runs marathons and triathlons . I noticed that something was wrong two years ago when i gained 14 pounds in two weeks ! It took me two years (and 40 pounds ) to find a doctor that would listen too me . I have read article that mentioned eating disorders as a possible cause of pcos . Has anyone had any experience with this ? I also would like to know how long it will take my body to return to normal ? Thanks !

Hi michele,
Yes i have had experience with eating disorders, but mine was bulimia nervosa and it was a well kept secret from everyone from the age of 13 till last summer. A year down the road and a year worth of CBT and i'm finally getting my body back to how it was but i now that the slightest thing could trigger back off my eating disorder.

Fell free to pm me if you need anymore help.
Elly

Elly , thank you for responding to me ! I am glad to hear that you are feeling better . Maybe there is hope for me ! It seems so unfair that the weight that I have gained is coming off slower than it went on ! Thank you for also sharing your history with eating disorders . I have had both bulimia and anorexia from age 16 until recently ( I am now 36 ) . I have been through a year of therapy and I have stopped abusing my body . I know that eating disorders affect your entire body , but I was surprised at the possible connection to pcos . I would like to see more research on this possible connection . I think it could really be beneficial to millions of young girls . Thank you for your support , Michele Cosgrove
