I have been exercising again, which I am really happy about! So far this month I have managed to do something everyday... I just hope I keep it up! On the downside, I have been eating terrible. I am attempting to stop drinking diet soda & caffeine, so I end up eating something else not good for me! Rayette - Your pictures are wonderful! It is great that so much of your family was able to get together! I have a big family too, so that is impressive! LOL!

My Mood: Points: 15,349.24 Bank: 2,852,350.40 Total Points: 2,867,699.65 | Well I got 30 minutes of walking in tonight. I wanted to do more but time has gotten away from me.
Carrie I know how hard it is to give up soda and caffeine. I was kind of lucky because I quit cold turkey when they upped my metformin to 2000mg. All sodas started tasting like rust in my mouth (probably from the metallic taste side effect.)
I started using the Crystal Light To go packets. They're kind of pricey, but in the end, cheaper then a 12pk of coke. I think you can get 12 or 14 for $3.99 and put it in your water. It's 5 calories and it uses Splenda, which I usually don't like artificial sweeteners but I like this stuff.
I love the peach tea and fruit punch ones and it is a welcome change from drinking plain water all the time as much as I love that.

I worked up a sweat, cleaned around my house and got my workout in. New week tomorrow, gotta get the food right this week. AF barged in early this AM and I woke up about 4ish with cramps galore.
Welcome back Carrie!

Show a little extra love and appreciation to all the moms you know today — and if you are a mom, take some time to reward yourself for the wonderful role you play, day in and day out. It takes a strong woman to put her kids and family first — you deserve a little pampering today! Pork Tenderloin and Vegetable Stir-Fry
Makes 4 servings Packed with good carbs and vitamins, broccoli is the nutritional hero in this appetizing stir-fry. For the freshest broccoli, look for crisp stalks and tightly closed heads. We often only use the florets, but the stalks shouldn't be discarded. Pare off the tough skin with a small knife and slice them thin. Steam or stir-fry the slices in a little olive oil and season with soy sauce or a splash of lemon. Ingredients:
1 pound pork tenderloin, trimmed of all visible fat
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon dry sherry
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
3 cups broccoli florets
1 medium carrot, sliced on the diagonal
1/4 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce To Make:
With a sharp knife, cut the pork into 1 1/2" x 1/4" strips and place in a bowl. Add the soy sauce, sherry, and cornstarch; toss to combine.
Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli, carrot, and pepper flakes. Cook, stirring often, for 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove to a plate. Add the ginger and garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute more. Stir in the pork and cook for 4 minutes, or until the pork is no longer pink. Add the broccoli mixture to the pan and toss for 1 minute. Add the orange juice and hoisin sauce and bring the mixture to a boil. Cook for 1 minute more, stirring to coat, until the mixture thickens slightly. My Mood: Points: 11,512.18 Bank: 15,682.81 Total Points: 27,194.99 | I lost two pounds since my last weigh in. Of course, that was two weeks ago. I didn't weigh in last week because of my surgery. However, I am really impressed with my 2 pound loss since I haven't done anything in the last two weeks. Before I weighed in, I was thinking that I would be happy if I didn't gain more than a pound or two.
I go to the doctor tomorrow (fingers crossed). I just want to know what the doctor has to say about my meniscus. I am not sure if I even have one in my left knee anymore. I also want to start physical therapy. Not doing anything is really not good for my mental health! I have been having anxiety attacks and bouts of depression, which I generally don't have when I am more active.
Well, I hope everybody has a happy and healthy week. I will check in again tomorrow and hopefully I will have some news from the doctor.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

I was happy to maintain my weight last week, because I didn't eat all that great. But I have gotten into the habit of walking 1-2 miles each night with my husband and am loving it as long as it's been cool enough.

I started eating better and am buying a Gold's Gym Power Spin 230 Recumbent Bike on thursday so I'll be exercising everyday once I get that. I eat oatmeal for breakfast with fruit, I eat salad for lunch everyday. I don't eat junk food, so I will hopefully start losing lots of weight once I start exercising everyday.
Good Luck to you all!

Carole-You have been so consistant on exercising WTG!!!!
Sarah-Congrats on the WL!!!
Sinnie-I wish warmth was my reason for not exercising It was snowing yesterday morning when I woke up.
Well I have been such a slacker on the boards lately. I have challenged myself to get up each morning and go for a 2mile jog with my co-worker whom I workout with after school each day. I need someone who is depending on me so I can stay on track too. Does that make sense? So I will be jogging and doing my Jillian Dvd's each day. I hope to have a loss this week. I weighed this AM 213# gained 3 on vacation.

My Mood: Points: 885.83 Bank: 3,552.36 Total Points: 4,438.19 | Hi there! Well, I am turning 45 in 4 more days - ugh! I'm feeling old all of a sudden. And, I just received an email from my sister and she and her husband are coming to visit July 9th so that means I MUST get my act together and start eating right. So, yesterday I bought the new South Beach diet book and I've decided I will begin on Monday. South Beach is the eating plan that I lost my 20+ pounds with a couple of years ago. I have 6 days to get myself in a mental state where I'm ready to commit myself to eating healthier. I'm definitely not there right now. If I start on Monday, I will have 53 days to lose at least 10+ pounds. Considering I haven't been able to lose more than a pound or two during the last year, this sounds like a very lofty goal. Oh gosh, I'm kind of freaking my self out.
On a more positive note - dh and I walked together last night for 45 minutes, so I've started the week off right - 45/200.
Welcome Tera!

My Mood: Points: 135.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 135.63 | Any Advice I'm new to this board, but love it so far. When I first went to the dr for this 8 yrs ago, 27 now, they just said it's hard to lose weight, you get excess hair, off on your cycles, but bc will help. I gained weight from Mircette and Yaz. The more I tried to diet, the more I gained. I gained over 100 lbs in the past four years. Thanks to this site, I learned about Metformin. After waiting 8mos, you know, for insurance, I was able to get my doc to give me the Metformin. I'm doing low carb, cuz that seems to work the best. I just started everything today, even walked 30 mins on my lunch break. My doc suggested for me to go see an endocrinologist, which costs a lot of money, that would be out of my own pocket. I want to try the metformin and low carb, and excercise to reduce my weight and see if that helps. All of my doctors said that my conditions would improve "IF" I lost weight. I'm doing that now, with some help. What do yall think? Should I wait? I have no real "gotta go" problems. Just typical PCOS stuff. Any advice? I would love to hear from yall! Thanks! |

Also yeah, metformin, low carb and exercise should get you to lose weight.
I watch my calories, fats, carbs, sodium and try to keep them on the lower side. I see the best results for me when I stick to around 150-180g of carbs a day.
I try to get as much protein and fiber as I can.

Carole-You can do it!!! Have you tried adding little spurts of jogs in your walks? I know that when I do short blasts of raising my heart rate I seem to lose more weight and if I jog regularly I start losing quickly. Just a thought.
Sinnie-Congrats on the weight loss.
Exercise goal-95/200. I got up this am and went for a 35min walk/jog and then did my jillian dvds after work. My goal this month is to lose 5#'s before I have to go to Anchorage for a week of work.
