Hi Ladies,
I'm back at work and stressed cause I recently just started to loose some weight. An i'm scared that now I'm back in the office I will gain it all back. Any idea on how I should tackle this? When I smell food in the office I too want to eat, and sometimes just sitting here makes me want to eat too. no need to mention the vending machine here.
Thanks!
Find someone at work who is trying to be healthier/loose weight and stay away from the junk at work. I found it was much easier to stay away from the junk when I had someone else in the office who was supportive and doing the same thing. I also kept healthy snacks in my desk so when others where eating junk I had a better alternative and it made it easier to stay away from the junk.

I always have my lunches and snacks packed and bring a cooler of good, healthy food with me everyday. I bring my food into staff meetings when I know they will be serving foods that I don't eat so I don't feel bad that I can't eat what they're eating.
In the short term, I stopped bringing my wallet or money with me to work until I broke the habit of buying treats on coffee break.
For meals out with colleagues, I checked out the menus of a few restaurants in the area and figured out meals that I could enjoy that fit within my diet.
I started valuing real, actual food. So much of the "food" we eat these days is so packaged and processed that it ceased to really be food in a factory long ago. Once I started eating all real food (foods that your great grandma would recognize as being food) I lost my appetite for packaged stuff. Here's some reading for you: David Kessler's The End of Overeating and Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Food.
As for coworkers, they gave me the gears for a couple of months. But, once they realized that bugging me wasn't changing what I was doing and that I was serious about getting healthy, they stopped trying to get me to eat the foods they were eating and started supporting me instead. Now, some of them even come to me for advice when trying to eat more healthfully!
I hope this helps!

definitely having a partner with you to motivate you will be helpful. Or you should pack small healthy snacks that you can eat throughout work, like fruit, granola bars, a even weight control shakes. hope this helps. you can do it!
Thank you ladies!
I think I will try to pack my lunch and keep my desk stocked with healthy snacks. I just hope i can remember to bring them lol. Once I attempted this, I would pack my lunch the night before and in the morning forget about it, I was always running out the door that I would forget to take it with me. Maybe can bring some fruits for the week on monday and that way I will always have a fruit there, right? lol
Hubby used to forget his lunch all the time. I fixed that by hanging his lunch bag from the door handle!

I used to keep healthy snacks in my drawer at work. I would try to keep a supply of things that would last and were shelf stable like fruits, nuts, etc. If you have a fridge at work you can take some string cheese, carrot and celery sticks or even some healthy frozen dinners. We were lucky enough to have a fridge and microwave in the office so I could stock up on stuff for when I was desperate or forgot to pack something. You could also bring a small jar of peanut butter that doesn't need refrigeration and put it on apples, bread, or bananas.

Mini Goal- 140- REACHED 7/28/08!!! New Mini Goal- 130! - REACHED 10/10/08!!! 27 years old- no meds- trying to get healthy through diet and exercise
I too pack healthy snacks. I always stop and think when I want something how long on tje treadmill or elliptical will it take to burn that off...that helps me a lot.
I agree bring food with you! Pack healthy meals and snacks so if you do get hungry, you can grab something, but the difference is that what you bring will be healthy
Best of luck!

I just have a strict plan with myself that I do not indulge in any work related snacks or anything. Any of those snacks are all extras in my diet that I do NOT need!!
I am a teacher and meetings almost always involve snacks!! The other teachers are always eating the crap at the meetings but I won't touch the food because it has gotten me into trouble in the past.
