Default Ectopic after 1st round of clomid

Hi, I am new to this site (which explains why I may have originally posted this in the wrong forum) and was hoping someone may have had a similar experience to myself. After taking metformin for 12 months and it not working I was prescribed clomid, only 25mg from CD 5-9. Fell pregnant first month but found out it was ectopic. Was told to wait 3 mths before trying again after having methotrexate injection. Next month will be 3 months and now Im very scared to take the Clomid again because of the higher risk of another ectopic. Has anyone out there had an ectopic and gone back on Clomid and had a normal pregnancy?

Danikim- I am so sorry about your loss. I had an ectopic pregnancy after my first IVF cycle. I had two doses of methotrexate and had to wait 90 days to try again. We did wait 4 months because I did not feel ready. I am the proud Mom of a 18 month old miracle. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, the first sono was nerve wracking, I kept on repeating my ectopic events in my mind. I actually had two embryos put in and I was convinced the other one was in my tube. We plan to have a embryo transfer in sept and I am so nervous an ectopic can happen again. Now that you have a history of an ectopic though, your doctor will monitor you more, I had a sono at 5 weeks instead of 6. good luck to you and you can always pm me if you need to

Thankyou both for replying to me. The ectopic was such a terrible experience Im just so stressed about trying again even though its what we really want to do. I do have a 10yr old daughter already but she was an "accident" so I have never had to go through any of these treatments. Now that Im remarried I had no idea that I would have all these problems with PCOS and my fertility. Thanks again for your words.

DaniKim--I'm with you. I've been back to trying for 3 months now. My ectopic was in September. It has been really scary, and I unfortunately freak out over any kind of left or right side abdominal stretching or cramping b/c it takes me back to the ectopic. The good news is that most people with ectopics will go on to have normal pregnancies!

My deepest sympathies to you. My ectopic was 10 months ago and it still brings me sadness. I was back to TTC in Sept. Last month, I had ot go to a new dr who thought I was pg. I would have been b/w 4 and 5 weeks when she sent me for an u/s. I did not conceive though.
I wish you the best and lots of baby dust!

I had a 'suspected' ectopic in October. My best advise...ask for a HSG to see if your tubes are open. It will not prevent an ectopic, but if you have a blockage that could cause another ectopic ....it will be found.

I am sorry for your loss and for all the other ladies on here.

I have been waiting on a referral from the hospital for further tests to be done which they advised me I would get by end of Jan but still nothing. Next week is the end of my 90 day wait, even though I am really worried about another ectopic I still had my heart set on starting again as soon as I could..... From what I can gather there isnt alot I can do to make sure I dont have another ectopic so I might as well jump in with both feet and hope for the best.

Thankyou all for your well wishes. Hopefully this time next month I will have some good news

I am so sorry to all you ladies who have experienced an ectopic.

I too have had one...last August. I had the methotrexate shots and an HSG and hysterosonogram after to check things out and all was normal.

I recently got my bfp and I am terrifed. I go for my beta Monday but I am so scared of it happening again.

But I agree with you DaniKim....jump right in and hope for the best. What else can we do?
