I have been on levoxyl (thyroid replacement) for 5+ years. The last couple years I have developed more noticeable edema. I notice puffiness esp. in hands, thighs, ankles, and feet. Because I am overweight, I know some of this is due to fat and bodily stress.
Can under-treated hypothyroidism bring on swelling in the limbs? At this point I'd consider it a cosmetic problem, but worried what it means too.

Also I was just on T4 meds, which is levoxyl anyway I was put on Levoxyl and Armour thyroid and I finally feel human again, this happend for me in 2006. You might do some research on Armour thyroid and see if you think it could help you.
Good Luck!!!

My Mood: Points: 10,390.41 Bank: 1,593.19 Total Points: 11,983.60 | Thanks Laura. My doctor hasn't discussed armour with me, but I might be getting some cytomel added soon, which is synthetic t3. It's a start anyway. I get tested every few months, and my t4 levels are definitely high enough (always slightly "too high" on blood tests) to keep the TSH low, which is the magic number for thyroid treatment as you know. However, I appear to still have symptoms from hypothyroidism after all this time. I'd love to get past this.
