diamondingtherough: thanks for the tips, i actually do already have tucks from when the doc thought I had hemroids and will be buying that cream shortley as today is "one of those days"..... So have you heard of a cure for this?
Amy, don't forget to pick up some epsom salt as well, that really helps.
I don't have a 'confirmed' case yet of endo, as my GYNO is in the process of ruling things out - she has me on consequetive bcp for 3 months (I'm on my last month, and I did not have any pain relief, but I did have less spotting then usual). I see her next month to talk about what's next, which I'm hoping will be a laporoscopy. As far as I know, this is the only way to see the endo and hopefully remove as much as possible. Also, I'm pretty sure the GYNO checks the bowel and surrounding organs when s/he is in there for more endo, and removes what s/he can.
This is O/T, but from my food journaling, I realized that things like wheat & dairy were irritating my digestive system, hence causing me a lot of rectal pain from diarrhea/constipation. This month, I've been trying to eat gluten/dairy free, and the change has been like night and day with my digestion and bm habits. I haven't had any of the external rectal pain/itching/bright bleeding. I still get the odd cramps internally though, but they go in hand with my pelvic pain. I see a Gastroenterologist this month so hopefully he'll have more advice for me.

That's wierd that you mention that you have found relief with less dairy... FOr my vulvodynia I have been seeing a naturalpathic doctor and they have tested my food allergies and the biggest thing that I have a reaction to is DAIRY, casin, whey, and cane sugar. That's interesting to me that you have found relief from eliminating dairy from your diet. I wonder if getting a food allergy test would be something that may help you even more??? They say by eating this stuff that your body react negativeely to causes inflamation, so by reducing that you would be reducing the pain that your boady has....I have reduced my dairy intake greatly and have noticed that it has helped my volvodynia (pain in my vagina), but not my bottom... Weird question.... When your bottom is hurting, does it seem to ratiate to your vagina?? It seems like it does with me....I'm very intersted to hear what your Gastroenterologist has to say, you will have to keep me updated.....
Amy, I will ask about getting my food allergies tested for sure.
For me, the pain usually starts in my pelvic area and can involve my lower back and bottom. I do have moments where I only feel rectal pain, especially the cramping, but when it is really bad, I feel like it spreads to my vaginal area as well.
I will definitely update you on what the Gastro says, I see him on the 22nd.

Yeah, I think the food allergy test is a good thing... Not sure how it works where you live, but I had to go to the Naturalpathic doctor to get it done.....Hmmm, sounds like we have some of the simular symptoms, I don't have as much cramping and most of the irritation is after a BM..... I just wish there was some answers to all of this..
Just thought I'd update since I had my gi appt today.
It went pretty well. The doctor was pleasant and willing to hear all of my concerns. He actually agrees with me that (although rare in his opinion) if I do have endo, it sounds like it could involve my colo-rectal area if not beyond.
He ordered a lot of bloodwork, I should get the results in a couple of weeks. He'd like me to have an endoscopy & colonoscopy (not looking forward to this), and the next available time is in late May, however I'm on the cancellation list and I've been assured that people cancel a lot (hmm, wonder why? ) This doctor as done thousands of these so I feel comfortable in his ability.
So I guess I'll be sedated but not completely knocked out for the procedures. I'm not sure how this works, as I've only ever been under general anesthetic. I'm nervous at the idea of being awake while a tube is down my throat (erm...and other places). But the nurse says I won't even remember it. The doctor told me not to worry, just to remind him that day about my anxiety and he (apparently also known as "The Candy Man") will make sure that I'm "taken care of." Hmmm.....
I see my GYNO in a month, and hopefully she'll decide on a lap for me. She's known as the "Queen of Endo" (or so I've heard) so I can't imagine she'd want to try anything else at this point.

Thanks for the update! I really appreciate it!.....I told my naturalist doc about my symptoms and she has given me some suppositories ( no clue if i spelt that right!) and then also suggested that I buy Caster Oil, I found it as wal-mart and I have been putting that on the area... I think it may help a little, not positive that it is clearing it up....I'm curious to know what blood work he took and why? I think you have a more serious case than I do, didn't you say you felt like pelvic pain, back pain and pain on your bottom... I usually have the pain on my bottom and some pelvic pain....
heck I don't even know what endoscopy is??? I have not been sedated either, it sounds like "the candy man" will hook you up though and make sure you aren't feeling any pain......It sounds like between the "candy man" and the "queen of endo" you will be taken care of very well!
I don't know for sure what bloodwork he did, but he said that he would give me a copy of the results, and that I could call back in a couple of weeks as well to see if anything was off.
He did say he wanted to test for things like inflamation, infection, and I know he's doing a test for celiac.
An endoscopy is a scope of your throat, esophagus, stomach, etc... The scope goes through your mouth, down your throat (I'm dreading this! I can't imagine being out of it enough not to freak out, but I digress.)
I hope the suppositories and castor oil help - it sounds theraputic!
