I'm on it and have been for a year now. I like it alot, but my sex drive is almost non exsistant since being on it. That's the only problem I've found with it, but from what I understand alot of those kind of medications have the same side effect.

Everything's great except for the drop in drive & it takes longer to get my juices flowing.

My Dr. said I should only have to be on it through Dec. & then I can come off of the med. He said the problem should be fixed after 6 mths. I'm hoping my drive will return after I come off of the Effexor. I don't know if it will be the same for you. The only thing I can tell you if your drive drops, is you need to make it clear to your hubby to take more time on foreplay & really understand & work w/ you to get you in the mood. For you, you may need to try to schedule sex if you get to where you don't think about it so that way it doesn't get to where it's been mths. since you've had sex. I just try to keep in mind that I know it's important to the marriage & I will enjoy it once it gets going. HTH. Good luck!

Default Effexor XR

My doctor first prescribed Lexapro. It didn't work. So he put me on Effexor XR because it works on different areas of the brain than Lexapro. Let me tell you -- it's been like night and day. I've been on Effexor almost a year and my sex drive is back in full force and has not been affected by Effexor at all. I think it's wonderful. Unlike Lexapro, however, you will need to gradually get off of Effexor when you decide to quit. Cold turkey doesn't work. All in all, I'm pleased with Effexor.

I was on Effexor for a couple of years and it worked great for me, but I just recently switched medications because it was causing me very high blood pressure. Whatever you do, don't suddenly stop taking it. When I stopped taking it, I couldn't stop crying. I felt like the world had come to an end. I got horrible headaches. Effexor is not a medicine that you want to forget to take. If you do, you could potentially have very bad lows.

Effexor works wonders on depression. I took it for about a year, then had to go off because I had no sex drive and I could not, no matter what we tried have the big O. Now I take Celexa and wellbutrin and it seems to balance the brain the way effexor did, and sex is still fun!!!!

I've been on effexor for quite awhile now and it really works well for me. It hasn't affected my S/D at all. It's actually helped. It's always working differently for everyone. What one person experiences on one thing another has a horrible side effect. YOu just have to experiment and see what works best for you. I find if I forget to take it though I get really dizzy. My body is dependent on it so that's kind of scary. have to be careful not to run out or it's to the bathroom to vomit I go. Have to go off of it slowly when I do.
