Sheera - I have a lifetime limit for IF too with my insurance but the meds and monitoring and IUI is unlimited, its just advanced fertility that has a 10k limit so for me basically one IVF and about 2 FET since not everything gets charged to the 10k.
For IVF an average amount of stim meds is say 100-150 of Gonal or Follistim (prices vary) and 1 Menopur per day and then the Lupron. I would say you would need 2 boxes of Lupron $260.00 2-3 Boxes of Menopur @72 each, and the HcG which is cheap. You also will need progesterone injections or suppositories there are many options, I am using a more expensive one Crinone Gel and Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate since its covered. Here is where I get my meds (the price list)

Maybe this can give you an idea. Also while your doing your IUI definitely save your meds. A lot of girls will also trade/donate. I have some extras, as soon as I get my BFP I'll be doing that.

I have no idea. I have not even talked about IVF with my dr yet. I don't even know what he would have me on or anything.
Just wanted to jump in really quickly... we had our consult for IVF a few months back and along with the paperwork, they gave me a list of meds they would have me on. If it is something you are considering, you might want to have a consult with your RE, they can usually give you an overview of what to expect and the meds you would be using.. I know i have read that pack a million times.. it's a lot of info, but at least it helps to know what to expect if/when you move forward. Also, the ladies on this board are great. I have been lurking on the IVF threads for a while and the information and support their is invaluable. Best of luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks Niki! We we are ready to start trying again probably in a couple of months I will keep all this in mind as well as ask the dr everything.
So, was your $10,000 enough to cover your IVF cycle?

Redsoxfan - good luck next year, I hope to have a BFP by then, but I'm sure I'll lurk on the TTC Buddies IVF boards!
Also - Sheera - I have the same type of breakdown of the IVF and costs - I can probably scan it and show it to you.
Niki, Thank you! I am praying for you and all the other girls. I know that you have gone through a lot already, and I pray that you get your BFP! I was devastated at the prospect of IVF both financially and emotionally, but you and all the other girls have definitely calmed a lot of my fears and given me hope! Definitely a great thread for anyone going through or considering IVF!

Just wanted to pipe in with this: I was in a similar situation re: the insurance company. They also wanted me to have several more rounds of failed IUI before covering IVF. I was with an RE at the time, and he (and I) thought that that would be a huge waste of time. (I kept having hyperstim problems and cancelled cycles would have kept recurring.) So, he engineered a conversion cycle---it started like injects---with Gonal F on CD3---but he gave me a dose that we knew was likely to hyperstimulate my ovaries. It did, and conditions were good for a conversion, so the insurance had to cover it. It worked on that round---got twins, despite a single embryo transfer (identical obviously). So, if you are working with an RE that is willing to try that, perhaps it's a loophole you could use to get around the insurance company. A lot of REs don't want to waste time with injects/IUI because OHSS and HOMs risks are so high and the success rates of IVF are better. Good luck!

Amy - I had similar - not the conversion cycle, but they didn't want to keep bothering with IUI b/c of OHSS and HOM's. I am still waiting for my FET, Fresh couldn't go ahead b/c of OHSS (I had 48 eggs on retrieval day and 72 follicles), but I was so so pleased with the IVF process in comparison to the IUI cycle. I have 18 perfect 5 day blasts so hopefully we'll eventually get the BFP!
Amy - What a surprise with the twins!! Can I ask why you did the SET, I know they often recommend 2?

Ok the reason I was asking about which meds people are on is because I have quite a bit left over that were donated to me. They have been stored right and have not expired. I would like to donate them to someone else. Kind of like pay it forward. The woman who donated to me got pregnant the first ivf try with twins. I also got pregnant the first IVF try with twins. This is what I have. Remember everything is still sealed.
Rachael - that is so sweet! I plan to do that too, just want to get a BFP first, I feel like giving my meds too soon would be a jinx (but I have nothing like you do! I have a few Gonal-f's and I think 1 Lupron and 1 Menopur. Although right there is like $700.00 worth of meds!
