When I first started taking Met, I couldn't eat eggs or lettuce. If I did, withing a 1/2 hour to and hour I was wishing I hadn't. I've been on Met a couple of years now, I'm boarderline Diabetic with high IR but sugar levels are within the normal range. (I don't know if that makes a difference). My mother on the other hand, is diabetic and is now taking insulin (off met). When she was able to control her sugar with Met, she was fine with eating eggs or lettuce. Everyone is different. You could check out the Met section and do a search. From my experience, I keep a mental log of what I can and can't eat. Good Luck

I had problems with eggs and lettuce. Both resulted in, shall we say, "Severe gastrointestinal difficulties."
Hope you escape that particular side effect. You could always just eat a half of an egg salad sandwich and make it really light on filling, so you could test out your reaction.
Hugs, Liz

Reason: stupid spelling errors
I'm sorry you can't eat eggs! I have always had a problem with eggs, so I didn't notice if Met made any difference. I get the same reaction as I did before met!!
i'm a type 2 diabetic on insulin and avandia. i would suggest testing your blood sugar 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours after you eat something. normal fasting glucose is 100-120. and after a meal it should be under 140 -160. but this is for non-diabetics. i would also suggest testing when you feel lightheaded and any other unusuall symptoms. write them down and share with your doctor. i would also suggest egg beaters but i'm not sure what to do about egg salad sandwiches.
You know, I actually noticed a difference depending on the TYPE of eggs I eat. I went to the store and they didn't have the normal eggs in a six pack, but they had this special kind. I think it was DHA enhanced and all vegitarian feed type of stuff and I had absolutely NO problems with the egges. The only difference I could tell was it was a lot more yellow than what I was used to.
i also found out regular whole eggs have 5 grams of fat each whereas eggbeaters for 1/4 cup has 1 gram of fat and no cholesteral. i'm limited to 50grams of fat a day so it really makes a difference.
Just went to echo bbro's comment. I can't eat the super-cheap white-shell eggs AT ALL. But if I get the hormone-free range-fed brown-shell eggs I'm fine. And they're tastier. HTH.
