Jessica,

From what I understand from reading posts on here electrolysis is very painful and not very effective for us Cysters. I have not had electrolysis done so I can not tell you how well it does or does not work. There are a lot of Cysters on here that have had it done.

I have had laser done a few years ago and had good results, but it was painful. They have come out with new laser therapies now that are less painful. I will be starting laser again this Wednesday. I've heard a lot of good stories on this site about the different lasers available.

Hope this helps some!

Default I've done both

I've done both electrolysis and laser. The thing is laser can only advertise as permanent hair reduction but electrolysis is permanent hair removal. The laser was not effective for me and I think actually made some of my problem worse. Right now I pay $75 for a 45 minute session, but the lady is the best. I could have gotten it a bit cheaper but she does a hair density count every 6th visit so you know the kind of progress you're making and if you're not making good enough progress she'll let you know you're wasting your time and money. I found this really comforting.

It can be a long process and the lady told me she thinks it'll be about a year, but that she believes in a years time she can get rid of 90% of the hair. The time needed is also shrinking so I've noticed a difference. It can be painful but I think its so worth it. Best of luck.

i go for the electrolysis all the way!! it is fda approved which laser is not and like mlh said, they can only advertise as hair reduction as electrolysis is permanent hair removal. i've been going for electrolysis appts. and love it. i've seen much improvement on my chin/neck, sideburnes and upper lip. i'm not done yet and it is a little expensive, but worth every penny in my honest opinion. i go in 1-2 times a week at $60/hr. i don't think it is too painful, except for upper lip which is a sensitive area. in my head..this is the way to go. it's been used for years and years and with the proper practictioner...you'll be hairfree in no time. also...you will not be hairfree until you get your hormones in check. once they are at the right levels...you should be good to go in whatever you choose!!

Thank you guys for the advice. I did some calling and they also told me that it is FDA approved for permanent hair removal. She asked me what areas and I told her and I said that I had PCOS. SHe said she has many clients with it too and she wont began until you are taking meds for PCOS. SHe said that she has experienced clients not treating PCOS and it doesnt work as well or at all like it should. She told me that it is $42/30mins-- i think--i have slept since then. She said that I would come in every week but I just wanted to get the oppions of fellow cysters first.

Default Nothing good to report about electrolysis

Hey, I have had a few sessions of elec on my lower tummy, breasts and sides of face and to be honest it simply didn't work. It is a very painful process and as a PCOS sufferer you will have to go for follow up procedures quite frequently. It really didn't seem to help me at all and I actually got so upset about it. Now, I enquired about laser and have so far had 4 treatments and the results have been astonishingly good - I am soo pleased that finally I feel much more comfortable about my femininity. I would definitely recommend this to you, although it may be more expensive than elec, it is absolutely worth it. Good luck!
