Default Electric razor recommendations needed

My very old electric razor, that i use to shave my legs, is dying. I need to replace it. Any recommendations on a good one that I can buy?

I reckon it all depends on what you want it to do. If you want it to contend with hair which you allow to get any longer than about 1/8", then the only razors that are going to be able to handle that are razors designed for the job -- "women's" razors, but most of them are very poorly made. "Men's" electric razors will generally give a much closer finish but unless you shave very, very regularly -- possibly every day -- they'll make a mess of it. They're designed to deal with very short, stubbly hair. If you let the hair get longer and you were using a "men's-type" electric razor you'd have to cut down the longer hair with a trimmer first.

I had some women's electric razors over time. Very snazzy. Pink, purple, white & aqua... pretty little things.

Didn't shave worth a damn.

I now use a Braun's men's shaver on my legs. My model is a syncro pro. It has the base it sits in that cleans and recharges it. The initial outlay of cash for the razor is pretty high - but use one of those 20% Bed Bath and Beyond coupons to help with that.

It shaves great. Smooth, clean, easy. My skin is SO much softer and nicer since I stopped using a blade. I will never use a blade again.

How often do you shave your legs?

Hee hee hee... I had an appt. this week at the gyn for a pap... it was the first time I shaved my legs in at least 6 months!!! In the summer I will do it every few days as needed... in the off season I tend to go hairy.

What I like about the Braun is it has this pop up beard trimmer so you can really whack your way through the overgrowth, if it's been a while.

And you need that trimmer, because men's-type razors are no use if you use the main head on long hair. If your leg hair growth is very heavy a purpose-made beard trimmer may be quicker, but the important thing is to get the hair trimmed very close before using the men's-type razor on it.
