Default Electric Razors

Hi everyone... I've been reading through the posts and noticed alot of you use electric razors.. Would you mind giving me some info on them?

I current shave my face with a disposable razor every day and between the red bumps and the acne, my face is a mess. I try to limit shaving to once a day, but if i'm going somewhere special at nice, I do it twice and it seems to make my face worse.. Plus, my boyfriend has a beard so I think my face is being irritated by that also.. Between all of it, I hate how I look and refuse to leave the house without makeup.. Even with the makeup, I think I look terrible..

For those of you using the electric razors, does it leave stubble? How many times a day do you have to shave? Can you see the dark patch still when you shave with it?

Any information would be appreciated.

Disposable razors are rarely all that good and wet shaving can be very irritating. The least irritating electric razors are Norelco men's models (Philishave outside the US).

Try the Norelco models. Once your face gets used to them they shouldn't irritate at all. Some of them even have adjustable heads.

Possibly -- but maybe it's just ultra-sensitive.

No -- I shave my moustache and my chin every day and less than thirty seconds of shaving leaves my skin absolutely smooth. Coarse stubble when I start, absolutely smooth when I finish.

Normally once a day. If something special at night, then twice. And no, when I shave there's no trace of a dark patch. The more expensive Norelco's grip each hair under gentle tension and press the skin back before the hair is cut. so that it's cut well under the surface. And I've had no problem with ingrown hairs.

I hope this helps. Have you shared the problem with your boyfriend?

Yes.. He knows about the PCOS.. I didn't do it the best way, actually directed him to this website so he could read about it.. He understands that I have excess facial hair, he says it doesn't bother him.. But we've not discussed the fact that I shave everyday, although I would think he'd have an idea especially since about a week ago he peeked in the shower while I was doing it.. How embarrassing..

He constantly touches my face which drives me nuts but I don't want to restrict him on that so i'm trying to get used to it.. It's going to take a LONG time..

Here's another issue.. Were going camping memorial day weekend.. I've always avoided stuff like this because it will be harder to maintain the hair.. I insisted that we only camp somewhere that had showers, but my friends and him are still going to see me first thing in the morning before I have a chance to shave.. I'm not sure what to do..

Ok.. I got my Norelco razor at lunch today. I'm going to plug it in and charge it tonight.. And try it tomorrow for the first time.. Hopefully all will go well... I'm looking forward to not having to worry about cutting myself all the time.. I shouldn't be able to cut myself with an electric razor, should i?

He's probably touching you to see what you do have by way of facial hair.

No, you can't cut yourself with it. But make sure the hair is no more than stubble when you use it. And give yourself a few weeks to get used to it.

It's a Norelco.. Can't remember the model exactly, it's out in the car.. I got it at Walmart for about $48.00 and its a mens version... I'm praying that it will work better than the disposable razors.. Would be nice to have a clear face..

Believe me I know how you feel... I will go to Walmart and look for it. I am so tired of the disposable ones!

I had tried everything and nothing worked that made me happy to get rid of the hair. A few months ago I bought a men's high end elcetric razor, it was an expensive one, it cost me $160 at Walmart, it is one with the holes in the middle of the round blades that lifts and cuts and I will tell you it is the best thing that I have ever done. It was worth every penny and I will never go back to anything else again. I would suggest though that if you are going to go that route spend the extra money to get a good one.

Well, according to the one I bought, it is supposed to lift the hair away from the skin and cut it.. We'll see.. I just have a really hard time not cutting myself with the disposable ones and sometimes, the marks from cutting are almost worse than the hair.. I'm hoping this will take care of both.. Now I just need to get the boyfriend out of the house long enough tomorrow to try it out in private!
