Default electrolysis

I recently bought a home electrolysis system for $200. From the comments people left about the system it seems to work pretty good. Is electrolysis a permanant solution for unwanted hair? I was never sure about that. Anyways is it safe to treat the hair around the nipples? I'm just afraid it might be too sensitive of an area to treat it.

Ok so I tried the electrolysis machine on the area around my belly button. Then I just got done doing my chin area. I was off today and yesterday so I had a chance to let the hair grow. I tweezed it with the electrolysis tweezers. It took me an HOUR just to do my chin area and a little on the sides of my face. It hurts...I'll tell you that much. If you ever try it you have to get far enough away from your skin so you don't get shocked. It hurts when you do. Once you get a hang of it, it's not so bad. I learned that you have to grab the hair first then step on the pedal so you don't shock your skin. I really hopes this works if not premanantly at least for a few months or something. I'm so sick of shaving everyday. I still have a few little short blonde hairs that I couldn't get tweezed. I hope no one can see them b/c I'm not shaving them. Oh and you have to use those horrible 10x magnifying mirrors. It's horrible to look into but it helps when tweezing.

Hi,

I've done the home route before too, but with an actual needle (One Touch with a needle). It works, but very slow and painfully. Anyway...

Which home electrolysis machine did you purchase? Name, model, etc? I get the understanding that you are using some sort of electric tweezer system.

Did the hairs come out easily when you tweezed them? Meaning no pain while pulling them out and little resistance? If they didn't there is little chance it did any good. Also, I've never seen, read, or heard of anyone having success with any sort of electric tweezer system... I'm just sharing what info I have as I've been reading various hair boards for years...

Electrolysis has been proven to be permanent, but not home electric tweezing systems. The electrolysis that is permenant is done with a needle.

For more info on electric tweezers:

http://www.hairfacts.com/methods/etweezer.html

"Electric tweezer claims are simply too good to be true. If a permanent method that required no skill and caused no pain or side effects came along, market forces and word of mouth would quickly make it the industry standard. "

http://www.consumerbeware.com/radio_freq.htm

"Hair is not a conductor of current (it can serve as a semi-conductor). Therefore, even radio frequency (an alternating current) will not move or flow freely down the hair shaft."

Also, the FDA's ruling on electric tweezers:
http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/98fr/102698a.txt

"FDA acknowledges that the published literature contains no evidence
of statistically significant data showing that the device is effective
in achieving permanent removal of hair."

Message boards with people discussing or who have used this type:

Anyway, I don't mean to give you bad news... ugh...just information. There's a lot of scams out there.
