Thumbs up electrolysis

I've been going for several years and continue going because I feel it has made a huge difference. I am not going to say it doesn't hurt -- it stings although they usually apply a numbing cream. I got used to it and kept telling myself it's worth it. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. When I first started going, I went once a week for about 45 mins. Now I go less often due to the expense, but still for 45 minutes.

Just don't expect the hair to be gone quickly. It takes a while because of how hair grows in cycles and how much skin area you need to take care of. Also, depending on how fair your skin is, you might see temporary redness.

I do feel though, that my progress would be better if I had looked into taking medications sooner to reduce the hair growth. I was getting electrolysis, but the facial hair was popping up in new places -- eeek! I am now taking Spironolactone and metformin and hope that there is some improvement.

So I say go for it and keep your goal in mind. I say a little improvement is better than none.

You really do need to get your hormones into the normal female range -- and keep them there -- or you'll experience new growth in new places.

Thumbs up

I have the same hair growth issues. I went today for my third laser treatment and it is working beautifully. 90% of the dark hairs on my chin and neck have disappeared. It is a little pricy. Approx. $100 per treatment but well worth it. Unfortunately laser hair removal works best on those with fair skin and dark hair. It attacks pigment so it doesn't have much effect on blonde hair and can potentially damage darker skin. The main advantage is that each treatment only took 15 min. Good luck to you!!

I love electrolysis. I was personally someone that did not respond to laser treatments. I had way too many sessions of laser (12) and the hair still grew back. Now, that might be because my testosterone has always been elevated regardless of being on medication or not.... but the electrolysis worked when nothing else did! I went for 30 min sessions once a week at first and now go for a 20 minute session every three weeks and it has been 9 months (my lady said it will take a year to a year and half for full results). So you need to have patience but you will see results... it actually does not hurt me at all, but I have a high pain tolerance. I am having my chin, upper lip, nipples, and upper foot done. I no longer look like a wildabeast =)

Good Luck!
