I've never heard of "holding onto something wet" for electrolysis...
Whatever kind I've been having, it has been pretty effective. Hairs grow at different rates (I've been doing areas that I was already removing hairs via other methods), so it takes several passes to be completely "hairless" in a particular area. It does take longer than you'd think to do an area. Much longer. But it is permanent, at least it has been for me.
Laser was not even moderately successful.
I have a moderately noticeable problem with hirtuism, taking propecia (.5mg) and spiro (100mg) daily for help with that (along with metformin...).
Good luck!
