i just went in for my first electrolysis treatment yesterday (just for my chin). it was not too painful, and she cleared pretty much all of the hair that was grown in. i will probaly have to go in once a week for a little while. i just started yasmin and spironolactone.
i'm curious about other women's experiences with electrolysis. i'm hoping that it will be permanent for me eventually, once i get all of the hairs that have become terminal so far, and the BCPs and Spiro hopefully will prevent NEW ones from growing. if it doesn't work this way i'll be really upset though, as it will have been a waste of money.
I had electrolysis done many years ago when I was first diagnosed with PCOS. After many sessions and bcp's to level out the hormones, it really seemed to do the trick. The worst of my hair growth was under the chin and that was pretty much the only area we focused on.
I do have to say that I think having the electrolysis there did something like destroy some of the nerve endings though. It's wierd but the area under my chin is often much hotter, or much colder than the rest of my body (my DH finds this very amusing LOL).
I did have electrolysis done a few times on my back, but I found it much too painful and stopped.
I had quite a bit done a few years ago. It helped a lot but certainly didn't get rid of everything. I'm going in for laser starting next month.

are you still on the BCPs to keep your hormones regulated? did any of the hair grow back after electrolysis? electrolysis is supposed to be the only permanent hair removal method, so i get confused when i hear others say it didn't make any difference for them. maybe this is because they were not taking any medications to help keep their excess male hormones/androgens in check.
