Question Elevated Blood Sugar.. need snack ideas!

I just found out my blood sugar is slightly elevated so I am started a diabetic diet so I can hopefully avoid being DX with gestational diabetes (I am almost 6 weeks pregnant)
I don't know my number right now my doc just said it was 'slightly elevated'
could just be a fluke but since I am slightly IR I doubt it is a fluke

anyhoo

I have an appointment with a dietitian soon but I was wondering what are some good snack ideas?
when I talked to her on the phone she said I should always pair my foods up...
Like a carb with a protein and so on

so that is like if I have some bread I should have some cheese? or some peanut butter?
I have tons of meal ideas just not good snack ones!

thanks girls

Katie - For snacks I usually do fruits and veggies. Sometimes I will eat wheat thins low in sodium. I try to eat more fruits and veggies in my diet these days.
You could eat one slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter. I also will make a veggie wrap for a light meal.

When I was pg and watching my sugar i was told not to have more that 15 gms of carbs a meal not to exceed 45 a day...I would stick with vegetables and salad for snacks and of course some fruit just try to watch your portions also.
Oh! nuts would be a good snack for you too, good source of protein and shouldnt elevate your sugar.

I am a Diabetic and it really is about carbs. You definitely need more than 45 grams per day, that is just insane. I have been told for snacks, try to limit the carb count to 15 grams and for meal times anywhere from 45-60 grams per meal depending on the specific diet your dietitian recommends.

Also check the american diabetes association for a lot of helpful tips and snack/meal ideas.

My diet of no more than 45 grams of carbs a day was based on a diet set by my dietitian during pregnancy.
