Another newbie. I was diagnosed way back in 1990, but there was no info out there at that time, and so I just got on with it. I didn't think I fitted the profile of PCOS Woman, as I was slim all my life - until I had kids. Then I went from a (UK) size 8 to a 20. Mind you, it took me 8 years to get pregnant with my first child and a year of investigations followed by Clomid to get #2.
After having a third child, I lost all the weight (3 stones - 1 stone= 14 lbs, sorry 'm no good at multiplication!) in 1995 following Rosemary Conley's Hip & Thigh Diet. That's basically a low fat diet. It worked for me.
Unexpectedly, a few years on, I had 2 more kids in the space of 2 years (I fondly remember the consultant gynaecologist who told me the odds against me getting pregnant at all, ever, once, were "millions to one"

) and wrecked my figure again.
Last year I tired SBD. It works for others but sadly had the reverse effect on me - a long stall, followed by weight gain, rather than loss. So this past week I've decided to return to my dear, tried and trusted Rosemary Conley and although I haven't weighed in yet, I feel great for the first time in ages.
It would be nice to lose weight alongside some fellow cysters as non cysters don't seem to understand how hard it is for us to achieve this. I know I've done it before and kept the weight off for a number of years, so I know in theory, it can be done, but it's nice to find a place where there are others in the same boat.
I have some other symptoms of PCOS but know from apst experience that if you take care of the weight, the rest takes care of itself, so right now, getting healthy again is my priority.
Hoping to learn lots from you all - and have a laugh too!
Polly
