i'm new here, and i'm not sure if anyone can help me with this, but i'm just curious.
i've just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, and i was wondering if women who have this condition experience painful sex.
does it have anything to do with the condition endometriosis (i think its called?), and is there something wrong with us physically down there that might make it painful to have sex normally.
Before I started takeing metformin, I didn't have to much of a problem. There had been a few times when it felt like DH hit bottom though. My uterus is a little low and tilted, the Dr. said that is why that was happening. After starting the met, sex became very painful when I "O"ed. I would get a really sharp pain over an ovarie with alot of little sharp pains that lasted about three hours or so. The next three or four days, sex was very painful, it actually made me cry a few times.
I don't know if this info will help you, but just thought I would share, maybe there is some connection with "O"ing or cysts rupturing that makes sex painful for you.
Yes I do expirence pain during sex. It is not all the time. When I was diagnosed my doctor asked me if there is pain during sex. I know another soulcyster that has it too. It happens when I have big cysts. I can always tell when I have the big cysts because I will have pain even when not having sex. Hope that helps you!!

I am so glad I read this! Yes! I do have pain during sex, especially at first...and then of course I clench up which makes it hurt worse. And then I have pain for a couple hours afterwards too, I have no idea if it has anything to do w/pcos, or if I might have an infection, or if I'm just small...or what...I have no idea, but I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone in this as well. I will be asking the dr. about it at my appt. Good luck, I hope that you can get it figured out and that you start feeling better, there are so many problems that it can really be overwhelming and bring you down...hang in there, and I hope that you can get help w/this problem.
Yes I always have pain during sex. I have learned how to arch my back though to make things not hurt so bad. It feels like my husband is punching my ovary. Certain position are out for us now, but we have learned others that are ok.
Oh my goodness,
I am so glad to see that my fellow cysters have this same problem. I too feel pain during sex but it not too terribly bad during its usually afterward that I feel most of my pain. Sometimes it can go on for days until it eases up. I used to think that DH was hitting things he shouldn't LOL. I don't think there is anything any of us have that isn't associated one way or another with the PCOS. Anymore, I just blame everything on PCOS...headaches, backaches, grumpiness, tiredness, you name it PCOS is to blame LOL.
LOL hoping2bmommy...that's funny, I wonder all the time, I wonder if that is from the pcos, or if that is, or if that is...lol. I am like you, the pain is mostly afterwards, and it's a few different kinds of pain, sometimes i feel um...sorry for tmi...rubbed raw, other times it burns, other times it's a feeling of pressure or something, and other times it is heat w/another feeling that i can't really describe. The pain during it is different too, and it is usually only at the beginning , like maybe I'm a little too tight or something (this is embarrassing..sheesh) but after all these years, you'd think that's not the case. Oh well, after the first minute or two it's ALL GOOD (until after, but I can handle that too I suppose). Anyhow, thank you all for being able to share this, hopefully someone may have some suggestions for us
I have also experienced painful sex. I have PCOS and also have Endo. You should ask your doctor if you could possibly have endometriosis, also my doctor told me that when your ovary is enflamed or you have a good sized cyst it can also cause pain.

Ramblin Rose, It sounds like you might have a mild case of vulvar vestibulitis syndrome, if it is painful on insertion (almost like it a knife or tearing feel) but not after entry (I know this is a bit embarrassing ). Also if you have any pain when trying to insert a tampon.
I just mention this because it's something I've been dealing with and have just found a simple treatment that makes it MUCH better. Though mine was to the point that there was NO thought of intercourse for nearly 2 years and I had a lot of different treatments to get me to a starting point for this treatment. Anyway, if you are interested, please let me know.
I have pretty much the same problem that RamblinRose described. It feels painful at first, but then is okay. Usually when I have the pain after sex, it is because I have a cyst. One time it was so bad it hurt to sit down for days. It was like when I would start to sit down, it hurt inside. I guess something was pushing on the cyst. Luckily I haven't had any in a while. (knock on wood!)
