Question Emjoi

Hey...I saw on QVC last night, this little contraption for hair removal called the emjoi. I was wondering if anyone here uses it? If you do, or have, please let me know about it. Does it work, does it hurt, how fast does hair grow back, and how long does the hair have to be. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have an Enjoy 'Gently Gold' model and I love it - but only for my lower legs.

It does hurt (well it does pull the hairs out after all!!) and I have very course thick hair from years of shaving. I have not shaved my lower legs now for about 4 years and the hairs are finally getting thinner and growing slower.

I tried to use it on my upper legs but because the skin is quite loose and flabby (!) and my upper legs are REALLY hairy (hairier than my partner - how embarrassing) it hurt too much for me. I haven't tried underarms or anywhere else. I sometimes use it on my chin but the hairs need to be quite long to do this area effectively.

In regards to the hair growing back, now that I have been using the Emjoy for a while, the hairs grow back at all different lengths (not like shaving where they all grow back at once), and I do my legs about every three weeks. After using it, my legs are smooth and the hairs actually grow back 'smoother' not prickily like shaving. Each leg takes me about 10 minutes to do - the worse parts are the ankles and knees - they do hurt a bit. The hair only needs to be quite short to be picked up but tend to wait until the hairs are a bit longer than they recommend so they are definitely picked up by the 'tweezers' on the rollers.

The only downside is that I find in summer when it is hot and humid, it is hard to run the Emjoy up and down your legs - it tends to 'stick' to the skin and the results are nowhere near as good. In winter when it is cold, the results are much better. If you sit in front of a fan or air-conditioner it is OK.

I hope this is helpful to you. My sister-in-law also has an Emjoy and doesn't like it - lucky girl has really fine blond hairs and they are only picked up when they are really long. It does work better on courser hair.

Good luck!!
