Default Endless period?

I have been taking 500mg/day of Met since mid-April. Primarily for weight-loss (lost 22 pounds!!) my glucose level was high but not dangerous. I had triplets 9 years ago after 4 years of fertility treatments - something's definitely whacked with my hormones! Anyway, I've combined Met w/ South Beach diet and stuck to it. But, it seems like my periods are endless...heavy for 3-4 days then I spot and spot and spot! May it lasted a few days extra, June was about 5 days of additional spotting, and this month the spotting is on day 8 with no end in sight! Yikes! Anyone experienced this or have any thoughts?

The nurse practitioner at the docs office is SCARY and the first month I called with questions she said I could stop taking it altogether! I've stuck with it, and other than the occasional bouts of Met-arhea & this endless spotting, I've felt ok and I have another 10 pounds to lose before I can fit into a size 14...don't give up now!

Any advice appreciated!

I think that it will stop, my guess would be that if you havent had regual cycles for awhile then you might be getting left over spotting. If the blood is red then I would ask more but if it is brown then I would just wait it out.

Oh yes that sounds just like me! I have two young children and I spotted like crazzy after my 2 deliveries (2.5 months!!! for each!). I was going crazzy!!

After AF (which is always with me for a good 6-7 days) I can spot for a good 8 days. It's always so depressing so I totally understand how you feel! I never know when it's going to end!

But the good thing is that I've been on met for over 3 months now and this last AF, after the bleeding was gone I only had 2-3 days of very light spotting! Met takes time to work but it should help you if you stick to it!!

Good luck!

Thanks to both of you for your replies...we leave for vacation tomorrow (Friday) so I'll bring along the "necessities" and hope this ends soon!
