Default Endo in Atlanta, GA area?

Hi,
I'm looking for an endocrinologist that specializes in PCOS. I have a current, regular endo, but I'm not 100% pleased. I'm not interested in fertility treatments or the like, so I don't want someone who will push that on me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Emily

Default doctor in ATL

I don't know if there are any endocrinologists in Atlanta that specialize in PCOS. I was seeing Dr. Jean Lucas before she went back to North Carolina, so I started seeing Dr. Chip Reed that took over her practice. Didn't really care for him. I am currently seeing a reproductive endocrinologist in Atlanta, Dr. Mark Perloe. I just got back from his office near Northside and he has referred me to another endocrinologist about getting my insulin under control. The new doctor is Dr. Judson Black and he is also familiar with PCOS and is treating some of Dr. Perloe's patients. You might give one of these doctor's a call.

Default Not in Atl. but in Cumming

I see Dr. Michael Milton in Cumming. He doesn't specialize in PCOS but he is very very knowledgable about it, which is hard to find. Check out this website- it is for thyroid help but you can read about him in general under Cumming, GA.

I saw Dr. Scott Slayden in Lawrencville. They have another office somewhere in Atlanta though. The name of the office is Reproductive Biology Associates.
He is very knowledgeable in PCOS and taught me how to cope and treat PCOS. After 8 years of trying to get pregnant and seeing doctor after doctor, he finally diagnosed me with PCOS and being Insuiln Resistant. He put me on Metformin/Glucaphage(sp?). It helped me lose weight, get my periods back and I felt normal and good. I lost 35 pounds in about 3 months and then got pregnant with TWINS!!! I really like him and tell everyone about him!!
Anyway - HTH!

I've been diagnosed for years now but my regular ObGyn I said I would have to be on birth control. I finally got tired of that and called up another ObGyn, the one I saw for laser hair removal, crying in pain begging for a referal. I was referred to Dr. Perlow at the Georgia Reproductive Specialists. I only saw Dr. Perlow on the initial visit and his head nurse on the subsequent visits. Since then I have taken my basil temp every morning in order to monitor my ovulation cycle to make sure the metformin is helping. I take 1700mg a day and I have been very happy.

I hope this helps.

Georgia Reproductive Specialists have a very informative web site and when you visit they give you a lot of educational pamplets to read over.

Good Luck!

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to know are there any other suggestions that people have found? I think I am going to start off with Georgia Reproductive Specialist and go from there.

I have been seeing Dr. Robertson and his team at Atlanta Diabetes Associates for about 2-3 years now. I love them. He was recommended on a PCOS site listing of doctors (although I can't remember where now).

I also visited Atlanta Reproductive Specialists - I think was their name - and saw Dr. Lisa Hasty. I actually didn't need to go that far.... the treatment I received from Dr. Robertson's office was perfect and I ended up with Ayden soon after.

Okay thanks for that information. I am actually not looking to TTC right now. I just want to get my PCOS in check. Eventually, I would like to have children but not right now.

Hey Emily,
Just wondering, are you actually seeing Dr. Robertson for diabetes or for PCOS? I am desperate to find a doctor in the Atlanta area that won't put me on birth control and send me home.

Thanks.
