Default Endo or GYN?

Hi everyone--
in your experience--- is it better to be treated by an endocrinologist or by a gyn?

I was treated with an OB for so long but all she managed to do was put me on different BCP's and Metformin. I found an OB-Endocrinologist and I wish that I found her sooner. We are now on the process of determining my hormone levels and she also ordered for glucose monitoring to check what types of food causes the spikes in my sugar levels. Over the years, I realized that the right doctor is a very important aspect with regards to your treatment plan.

I wish you all the best.

I think it really depends on the dr. My gyno is great but anytime I need to have hormone levels checked, she sends me to an endo. My endo is also good but anytime I have irregular periods or symptoms of cysts she sendsme to my gyno. It would just be helpful if they realized that both sets of symptoms are going to show up in someone in PCOS and it's too expensive to go hopping back and forth between them. I have had better experiences with my endo, just because if nothing else she can talk to me about balancing my hormones.

Feel free to ask me about hyperprolactinemia though, just had my prolactinoma removed through brain surgery. Happier and healthier already...
