Default Endo and irregular cycles?

Is this possible? My doctor thinks I have endo, my periods are really long, heavy, and painful, but my cycles are also really irregular. Its been 4 months so far and no AF. I have surgery scheduled for Jan 2nd, so I will def. know then, just wondered if anyone knew if this was possible. Thanks

Well, Endometriosis is often suspected if you have heavy, very painful periods. I don't know what other women are like with their periods and Endometriosis, but mine are very irregular - I'll bleed for like 10 days, then start it again about 10 days later. I usually bleed 2 weeks in a month. The longer I go w/o treatment I usually bleed non stop (I've bled 6 months before).

This is a good site for more information: http://www.4woman.gov/faq/endometriosis.cfm

I think it is more likely for women w/ Endo to have regular periods, but bleeding and spotting between periods (thus why I often have multiple periods a month).

But if you are experiencing some of the symptoms (painful periods, bowel movements, etc...) then your dr is doing the right thing by looking to see if it is Endometriosis.

I go in for surgery on Jan 8th for Endo. My periods are sometimes irregular. They are not long (4-7 days), but the first few days are very heavy with a lot of clotting. The first few days are quite painful for me as well. Sometimes 2 Aleve a few times a day does the job to where it is bearable, but other times I need pain medicine for relief. It definitely sounds like you may have Endo, but definitely ask your doctor a lot of questions so you know what is going on for sure.

Good luck with surgery!
