Default Endo in N. IL or extreme S. WI?

I'm in the Rockford, IL area and need to find a new endo. Mine told me I had this dx through A LETTER! He mailed my test results and his conclusions along with a script for spiro. Needless to say I do not appreciate his approach to medicine.

I would be willing to travel a bit for a good doctor so within 50 miles would be fine.

I am not TTC so reproductive endos generally don't want to see me. At least that has been my experience when I call them.

Thank you!

I see a endo in Beloit, but I don't know if your insurance will cover her. I was seen by a RE in rockford, for pcos, but I also was planning on ttc soon, so I don't know how helpful they would be. If you could go to Beloit, I see Dr. viswanathan at the Beloit clinic. She is pretty good! Good luck!

good luck! She is the only endo I know of around here. Although, there may be a better one in Rockford. Viswanathan is pretty good to me, but then again, I have been seeing her since I was 15 (now 26) Good luck

Talking Endo in Chicago

I see Dr. David Ehrmann and the University of Chicago. He's EXCELLENT. He is one of the leading experts in PCOS and has helped me immensely (less hair growth, lost about 70 pounds, controlled insulin/glucose levels, etc etc etc). I know Chicago is a bit of a trip, but IMO he's definitely worth it. Once he gets all your labs, possibly a GTT and gets you settled into a specific treatment, you really don't have to go very often. I go about once every 4 months now. Honestly, I just can't say enough good things about this doctor. He also does a LOT of research on PCOS so chances are, if you are interested, he has a study running that fits your symptoms/needs. You can find info on the clinic at http://centerforpcos.bsd.uchicago.edu/

Do you have any idea what kind of insurance he takes or how long it takes to get an appointment?

I am thinking I really need to go to an expert. I have paradoxical reactions to medications so treatment for anything is difficult for me.

I might head up to the Mayo Clinic. I don't know. I am just so frustrated and scared. I had enough to deal with without this too.

I have Cigna, so I know he takes that. I can't say for sure about anything else, but you should be able to call the number on your insurance card and find out if he is covered. When I got my first appointment I think it took me about a month to get in. That was a long time ago though, I don't know how long it takes these days. Best bet is to just call and explain your situation and see what they can do for you. The office staff there is really helpful and friendly. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I really feel like I need an expert now after my experiences with regular endos.
