Endo in Northern Virginia

I just had a wonderful visit with my new endo! His name is Dr. Michael Horwath and he is Reston. His number is 703-904-0497. It takes like 5 months to get an initial appointment but he is definately worth it!

I have only been seeing her for about 2 months (had my second appointment today), but she has been great. Great diet suggestions too and has done a great job motivating me.

Just wanted to post here regarding this doctor. I was told by my gyn that this man, Dr. Horwath was the greatest thing that hit endocrinology since sliced bread and all I can say, emphatically, that he was not. I wish I had as good of a visit as you, reddhedgrrl.

Like you it took about 6 months to get one appointment with him, all he did was talk to me for about 10 minutes, took a whole lot of blood and told me to keep working out and eat a 1000 calorie per day diabetic diet. He let me know what the results were, that I had it ( i already knew that ) but would not give me the information on my levels of anything. This was after I had to have an emergency surgery to remove a big cyst on my left ovary because it was turning cancerous. He would not put me on Metformin, said that he didnt think it would do anything for me and didnt want to risk the side effects since I wasnt trying to have a baby.

He was absolutely NO help to me and was very condesending. He didnt even want me to return back to him for a year. I felt like I wasted almost a year of my time and possible treatment because of this man.

I found a GREAT Endo in Northern VA, she specializes in women's disorders, and knows all about latest treatments. She put me on Metformin and after 2 months on it we got pregnant! We've been trying with no results for almost 2 yrs before.

She has great bedside manner, you feel like she really focuses her attention on you, she LIKES when you do your "homework", i.e. know a lot about your condition, and.... ta-da... she is reachable by phone and called me back the same day!!!!!!!

I know another person in real life who goes to her and loves her.
