Angry Endocrinologist appointment

Hi Ladies.

Some of you may (or may not) remember seeing a post of mine about 3 weeks ago about my hospital appointment that had been cancelled (that nobody informed me about until i got there)

Well, the re-arranged appointment was set for yesterday (Friday 27th July) BUT, i received a letter on thursday telling me that the appointment had been cancelled again

I phoned them and was told that the doctor had been called away to cover another clinic 'Coz someone was off sick???? I gave the woman on the phone a bit of earache and demanded to know when thay would re-arrange it for, she said she couldn't tell me yet. Well, i basically told her that the longer i leave my problems untreated, the more serious they get & asked her to speak to the doctor and tell him that i need to see him ASAP.

I'll give them a week, if i still havn't heard anything, i will phone again. The thing is though, i found out whan i phoned them, i thought this doctor was a Gyno but he's an Endocrinologist so apparantly, he's the one i need to see.

I don't know if anybody else has tried this but it's go to be worth a shot...... I had a look on the internet and found the contact addresses for the local NHS trust, 3 different ones, so i've written a letter to them because apparantly, they deal with complaints. Also, on their website is a number to ring if you want to apply to see your medical records. I was refused this my my GP's surgery so maybe i will finally be able to get those.

I just wish for once, these doctors new about how serious this condition can get and actually try to do something to help us. I don't have periods at-all (3 years without natural one, almost 2 years without pill-induced one) so the longer things are left untreated the more worried i get. And they better not try to put me back on Diannette.

Sorry this post was so long, just needed to let off a bit of steam, i'm finished now. Thank you for listening.

Best Wishes to all
Katherine

Hi Katherine,

Re access to your medical notes at your GP, I didn't have to pursue it all the way but apparently you are legally entitled to see them. My sister got access to hers relatively easily a few years ago and I to mine about a month ago. It was a bit of a struggle though, I wanted some info for my endo app and they were doing everything possible to put me off. I had to apply in writing then make an app where the Doc sat with them in front of him and asked what I wanted to know. I was like, eh no, hand them over... He eventually did (thought at one point I'd have to swipe them off the desk) but he made me sit in the really busy waiting room. So I'm sitting there making notes with all these people wondering what the hell I'm doing, then when I went to hand them back in they told me they could have photocopied what I wanted. As easy as that!!!

Oh and yeah, when I read them I could understand why they don't want you to. After them brushing me off I finally found that my endo app nine years ago said they thought it might be PCOS but that it wasn't worth pursuing further!

As much as it may seem impolite it appears being pushy is the only way to get results. I got my scan app in the post today to prove it!!

So you go girl, take no sh*t, and lots of luck to you!

Let us know how you get on...

Hugs
Jen

You go girl!!!!!

Remember the doc's are there to make you feel better, not worse. I just found out that one of my doctors I saw at a family planning clinic over 4 years ago said she thought I might have pcos but my Gp at the time told them people my age don't get pcos.

But now I have ranted and raved at everyone and sundry I am finally getting treatment and allthough I feel dreadfull (metaformin may be great for me, but not for my general well being) I feel better!

So go for it!
Lots of hugs

Hi Ladies

Well, i sent my complaint letter to the Chief Executive at the NHS trust in my local hospital. I've had a reply to say that they have asked for the matter to be investigated, so, we'll see what happens with that.

I still havn't got another appointment date though so i will ring again tomorrow and give them some more hassle!!

Hope you are all well.
Take Care
