Default Endocrinologist in Grand Rapids / West Michigan area?

Can anybody recommend a doctor in West Michigan? I'm getting fired up to tackle this problem once and for all.

Thank you.

Welcome to SoulCysters!

I'm not in Grand Rapids, but when my beloved endo left the area for Toledo, he told me that the best guy left around was Ed Kryshak in Grand Rapids. Apparently he is Mayo-clinic trained and pretty up-to-date on PCOS, although my old endo told me that Kryshak was not quite as aggressive in treating PCOS as he was (which was very aggressive). But he said that he didn't see Kryshak making any big PCOS-treatment mistakes, which unfortunately, happens a lot.

Here's his info:

I'm pregnant right now and have been putting off finding a new endo, but I need to get cracking. Let me know if you try Kryshak, I'd love to know what you think. Good luck!

I have been seeing a great doctor in Grand Rapids ( who also has an office in Kalamazoo) for almost 7 years now. He is a gyno/endrocrinologist. He's part of the Michigan Reproductive and IVF. Below is his address and phone for both locations. Best of luck.

Leslie

Leslie, I see Dr. Dodds too!

Just a note, though, that as a reproductive endocrinologist he specifically treats infertility, and not PCOS as a day-to-day kind of thing. I actually found that while Dodds knew a fair deal about how to get someone pregnant, he didn't know much specifically about PCOS. For instance, he did not even SUGGEST Gluc until I had gone through several unsuccessful cycles (he had apparently missed in my chart that I was already on it, prescribed before him by my regular endo), and he suggested I stop it at 14w (against the advice of my midwife and regular endo). I felt he was off base on both counts.

Anyhow, I was generally quite happy with Dodds (although his partner, Young, has very poor bedside manner) and would suggest him to anyone trying to get pregnant, but not otherwise.

I have an appointment with Dr. Kryshak next week, anyone who's interested, feel free to PM me and I'll let you know how it went.
