-High testosterone, cortisol, aldosterone, androstenedione, free androgen index, no apparent insulin resistance however
-off all hormone meds since having pulmonary embolism in August 2009
-Main symptoms: weight gain (especially annoying in mid-section/abdomen), high androgens, very low progesterone, no periods unless on OC
-fortunate to have very good bp, blood sugar, cholesterol, etc., no hirsutism.
I am very interested in this as well, as I am near saskatoon!!
Just though i'd give this a bump!

Hi there! I know for sure Dr. Donna Chizen is a practicing RE at RUH. I was scheduled to see her shortly before I became pregnant with my second child. I cancelled the appointment though, due to the pregnancy, so I never saw her and don't really know anything about her. I've also heard of a Dr. Kase, also practicing out of the fertility clinic at RUH, but I know even less about that one. As far as the 2 names you mentioned, I've never heard of them at all. Unfortunately, you really have no chance of getting in to see these doctors unless you're looking to get pregnant Their waiting lists would boogle your mind! It's your OBGYN's responsibility to look after your treatment if you're not looking for reproductive assistence. If you are, your OBGYN needs to refer you to the fertility clinic. Is he/she looking after you to your satisfaction? If not, maybe your family doctor can recommend someone better. Searching for a good doctor can be a very frustrating experience. If that is your situation, I can feel along with you. Although I'm very happy with my OBGYN, I have been unable to find a good GP willing to take on new patients since my beloved old doctor died back in 2002. If you know of a good GP in Saskatoon, please share

Very thin "cyster"- 5' 3" and 90 lbs.
Only symptoms- long cycles, some acne and extra hair (where I don't want it)
Lap. with HSG in Jul. '02- all clear
Appear to be Clomid resistent
Both babies conceived naturally and without meds
Trouble with IUGR during pregnancy due to possible clotting disorder (have not been tested yet)
My GP is the best, but I don't think she takes new patients. Dr.Paula Paley at Saskatoon East Family Physicians.
My mom was referred to an endo because of her thyroid. If my GP can't refer me, then I will have no choice but to go elsewhere, a private clinic in Alberta perhaps. I am not going to put my health at risk. my cousin died of a very rare genetic form of adrenal cancer, and I'm not going to fool around with anything!
Gotta love the medical system.

I think maybe I misread your post. You were probably wondering about regular endos, not REs; right? To check out a problem with your adrenal glands and not for PCOS treatment? That, obviously, would not be your OBGYN's responsibility. Sorry about that; I misunderstood. I assumed you were looking to get more satisfactory treatment for your PCOS. I don't specifically know of any regular endos, but I know RUH has a department of endocrinology, so we must have some practicing out of there. It can't hurt to ask your GP to refer you. Good luck in your quest for better health

Thanks KT. I see my GP on Thursday, hopefully something can get worked out then.
Goodness it seems the more people I tell my health concerns to, the more I find that are in the same situation! lol

Just an update, I've been referred to Dr. H. Khandwala, an endocrinologist in the city. Hopefully I will get in to see him before 2 months.
I'm also getting my 17-OHP, AM Cortisol, ACTH levels, and DHEAS done. At last!
