My Mood: Points: 15,850.46 Bank: 26,555.44 Total Points: 42,405.89 | endometrial biopsy caused AF? I had an endometrial biopsy on Wednesday, because I haven't had AF in about a year. My last REAL AF was in May of 1998. Since then I only see her when the meds make her come. So the doctor prescribed provera to bring her on and I'm supposed to cycle it, like some cysters do with NPC. So anyways, I was waiting till Sunday to start the provera thinking it'd be easier to remember my timing that way. The bleeding from the biopsy itself stopped on Thursday.
Friday night I started getting a very bad backache. I have a slipped disk in my back, but this felt different. Putting a heating pad on it helped, but when the pain in my back let up, I noticed more, less severe, pain in the area of my ovaries.
Saturday morning, I wiped and got a little blood. I've been spotting all day Saturday and the backache from hell still hasn't gone away. The cramping in my ovaries has gotten stronger and more noticable, and I SWEAR it FEELS like AF.
Why would a biopsy cause AF to come though? It seems like a bit of a stretch to consider it a coincidence, given how long it's been. Should I be worried that maybe there's something wrong where the biopsy was done? I took some pamprin for the cramps and backache and they eased some but not completely. I don't know what to think here! Help?

My Mood: Points: 15,850.46 Bank: 26,555.44 Total Points: 42,405.89 | I called and spoke with the doctor on call who assured me I had nothing to worry about. That was about 14 hours ago. I've come to the conclusion the woman is nuts. My back pain is so severe that it just woke me up. I was almost unable to get out of the bed without waking DH up to help me. My bleeding actually appears to have stopped, but it didn't take the pain along with it.
I'm seriously considerring waking DH up to go to the ER and to hell with what the doctor on call says!
Good lukc ROnda, and please let me know how yours turns out!

My Mood: Points: 15,850.46 Bank: 26,555.44 Total Points: 42,405.89 | Hi Ronda,
Well, I tried to wait it out but wound up in the ER at about 6am this morning. The doctor there didn't think my back pain was caused from the actual biopsy so much as from the position I had to be in for the biopsy and the factthat the procedure took so long. He says I strained my back by holding it in that position too long. I'm not sure I entirely agree with that since it doesn't seem to me like it took that long. However, when the procedure was done, all of the muscles in my back and abdomen clenched up around the time the sample was actually cut. The ER doctor said that's what my back muscles are still doing, so I think maybe I strained them at that point rather than just from the position.
He gave me a shot of pain killer (ibuprofen and tylenol didn't help me at all) and some valium to relax the muscles. It's about 3:30 my time now and I still have some twinges of pain, but was able to sleep and feel MUCH better than I did!
He also gave me some muscle relaxers and pain killers for home, but I don't plan to take them unless I absolutely need them.
I hope you're feeling better soon and your doctor is able to sort everything out for you! I have to go for a follow up in 2 days so I'll also let you know what comes of that
Oh yeah, I'm refusing to take my provera at least till I have a few days of not needing pain killers!
*hugs*

I hope the pain meds are helping you!
I'm feeling a lot better after a couple of days on the muscle relaxers. I didn't have to take any of the pain meds, two arthritis strength tylenol (650mg each) combined with the muscle relaxers seemed to do the trick. I've still got some twinges of pain here and there, but I followed up with my GP today and he said to stop taking the muscle relaxers unless I'm having spasms. He too seemed to think the biopsy itself wasn't the cause of the problem. He agreed with me though that I could have strained the muscles when they started spasming during the biopsy.
