Nothing seemed to help my pain but a nice warm heating pad. Endometriosis is not just inflammation. It is the lining of your uterus growing on other organs. If the only relief you get is from a heating pad, I say, by all means use it. BTW, artheritis is inflammation too and all be darned if I'm gonna put an ice pack on my knees when they flare up. Cold just makes the pain worse.

Hey, everybody -
the discussion here has been really interesting. I'm still suffering with the endo flare-up - my belly is still HUGE, and, as I have eating disorder issues, this is helping me not one bit. I've had a totally normal day of eating, but I'm going around thinking "I should go on a diet" - ha! So the evil bulimia rears its ugly head.

I thought about making an appointment to see my GP but it's useless, b/c *he* is useless. I think he's asleep the majority of the time I'm in there. I need to find a new doctor, but as I said before, we are in the midst of a dr. crisis here, and nobody is taking new patients. Yuck.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers - pray that my belly goes back down to normal. I look like I'm expecting a baby elephant...

One other suggestion I might make (I'm sorry you are in so much pain! it's frustrating I remember ) is to try natural progesterone cream. Those of us with Endometriosis are usually very estrogen dominant and lack progesterone. The cream can be purchased at natural health food stores and usually costs between $12-$25. You apply about a 1/4 tsp. to a "fatty" part of your body, i.e. the abdomen or thigh and it will help ease the pain. This is another thing that I tried and it did help quite a bit. Please research this yourself. There is a TON of information on the internet about it and it really is very safe and I NEVER expect anyone to take my advice without looking into it more themselves!

Good luck and pain free days to you soon!

LOL! We must share a brain or something - I ordered some progesterone cream from an online health store I use, after one of the women on my endometriosis mailing list mentioned it! Can't wait to try it.

As for a fatty part of my body - well, that's every part of my body.

LOL.. good for you! And I was also reading your "signature" below your post where it states you also have rheumatoid arthritis. The reason I am mentioning that is because I have read information from men who apply their wives' progesterone cream for them and some of those men have reported finding relief from arthritis symptoms in their hands because of the contact with the cream. I don't know how accurate that is or what the odds are, but hey, it may be one more benefit to look forward to if it's true!

Wow - progesterone for RA - I've never heard that before, but nothing surprises me. I must see if I notice any changes in my arthritis - thanks!
