But I have heard that tampon use by women with heavy periods, especially during those first few days is not recommended. Yeah, right like I could function without it....just change them VERY OFTEN.
When I first began researching endometriosis many moons ago, I read how the disease was once called "The Working Woman's Disease". Back in the dark ages when women were expected to stay home and raise children, doctors were beginning to recognize the development of the disease amongst working women......I see the big stress factor, don't you? |

My worst pain is in my lower back and everytime that acts up my ibs acts up too. I have appointment for my yearly exam in April but I think I will try and get in a little earlier.
From what I have read about the tampons, if you feel you need to use them, it is recommended that you use tampax naturals, I read it doesnt contain dioxin's (sp?)

The lower back...I remember. I could never walk fully upright. It felt like my lower spine would snap if I did.
Good luck with you doctor! |

Hopefully my doctor will be able to get me in sooner, I am sick of dealing with it. Does it take longer to recover from your lap if the have to laser it from your bowel too?

I had the IBS because of endo too. It was wrapped around my bowel. Diarhea with every AF was not fun.

Points: 904.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 904.00 | April...the recovery time is about the same no matter what sort of procedure they do while they are in there. I was black and blue around my middle for more than a week...I had tissue lasered, cysts removed as well as the tube dye test done. I'm sure they roughed me up a bit. I went home that afternoon, had a script for some pain pills and took it easy for a few days. I had 3 holes in my abdomen, one in my belly button and the other two on opposite side of my lower pelvis (bikini line). I think I had one stitch and a bandaid for each hole.
And Patty...yeah I remember...waiting for the inevitable. I'd turn white and break out in a cold sweat...just from the pain. Once again, I'd hit or pinch myself in hopes of distracting my nervous system. Somehow we manage. I look at it this way. The suffering has made me a stronger person.....If you can live through this and still mantain my sanity....I can handle just about anything.
Hang tough, ladies. |

I was told if you stay on the pill through AF time is makes it less painful. Not for me. I still hurt real bad.
I still have another month to go for my surgey and just yesterday I poped my stitches from my surgery a few weeks ago.
So thay hurts like heck.
IBpro is not cutting it either.

You will feel so much better after your surgery. I know that I feel like a totally new woman. Are you going to use the estrogen patches? They are great. And, since you won't have a uterus, you won't have to worry about the cancer effects it has. Good luck and if you need any advice about your hysterectomy, let me know. I'll be glad to help.

I had another horrible day today.
I told DH he needs to re evaluate his flipping schedule because I can't take it anymore.
I actually took a percocet at work today!
DH said to call and see if I could get in earlier.
So I will call Monday.
I'll let you all know what happens.
It is so good to know so many others have endo to know I'm not mental! (OK I would be mental anyhow...just nice to have others join me!)
Sorry Jodygirl I took over your post,
Good day girls,
Patty

Points: 1,827.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,827.00 | another one here Hi Jody. I'm 13 days out of a lap for endo. I have stage 3 endo, as we just discovered, and the doc lasered out as much as she could. My ovaries were the worst. I was in constant pain for a few months, and the doctor kept me on Celebrex for it. For me, it helped a lot. The surgery went really well (I actually woke up smiling because I didn't hurt that badly!) and I was back at work in a few days. I had my post op yesterday and had the stitches taken out and saw the pics. It wasn't a pretty sight.
I wish I could help you, but my doc is totally different. It can take several months to get in for an annual, but if I'm in pain she gets me in immediately. I wish you had that...
Keeping you in my thoughts, girl.
Amy

I agree with almost everything that was said for seeking relief from the pain of endo except one thing. I really strongly advise against using heating pads. I realize they seem to offer comfort, but endo is inflammation.. heat adds to inflammation (similarly to when you pull a muscle in your back etc. and they tell you to ice and NOT heat) and though it seems to help temporarily, I believe that it makes things worse in the long run as it accumulates even more blood to the area. That is just my personal opinion. If you can get by with celebrex and tylenol or ibuprofen I'd really try to do that. Icing the back helped me quite a bit too when I suffered from endo. The only thing that cured it for me finally was a total laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy with the removal of my ovaries. I take NO HRT by MY choice much to the chagrin of my gyne because endo is fed by estrogen. This is not something that I would recommend for everyone, but it works great for me (7 months after hyst).
Again, I only post what works for me.. everyone has to go by what works best for them! I wish you luck in achieving pain relief!
Jamie
