Default Endometriosis & Laparoscopy?

Anyone with Endometriosis have a Laparoscopy? The Dr. has suggested I have one, but she said there are risks - puncturing something, etc. I am in so much pain I think that the possible gains outweigh the possible risks. I am also concerned, because my dr. told me that she did the lap on one patient, didn't find enough endo to take out, then two years later went in for a hysterectomy and the patient had more endo than any other patient she'd ever seen. Since I'm the patient that is commonly thought to be 'making it up' until years later they actually discover, yes, there is a problem!, I'm just afraid to go through the surgery, have them find nothing, and still be terribly miserable.

I'd love to hear from someone else who's had this done. Please tell me how it went and if you thought it was worth it. Thanks!

I had a lap done on 7/11 but not for endo however she did find some endo while doing the surgery and she removed it. However I was very satisfied with the surgery as I found out that my right tube was blocked and she removed a lot of my cysts during the surgery. I had very little discomfort after the surgery some minor swelling and soreness but after a few days I was completely fine and was back to work, I have a small incision inside my belly button and one at my pubic bone. I have a friend that had this same surgery in November cause she has severe endo and had been ttc for a year. They removed a lot of her endo and then put her on the depo shot for 6 months to clear the rest of it up, and now after coming off the depo shot she can start ttc again. She has had no problems that I know of so far but I do know that her dr told her that her endo would eventually come back. Good Luck in whatever you decide HTH

Hey there, just wanted to tell you that I know how you feel. I felt for years that drs thought I was blowing things out of proportion. I found a dr in my area that felt i should have lap after our first meeting... Low and behold, there was TONS of endo in there. She took it out, and although I feel I went back to work too early- went upstairs at work my first few days back and pulled a muscle pretty badly. I have been mostly pain free in the last 8 months or so. Hubby and I have started ttc with clomid this month, so we will see.

Just as an FYI, there is and endo thread under getting to know you forum. I subscribe there, and they are a great group of woman

I had lap in 2003, at that time they did not find endo but it was just another test they did to help me. Good luck
