Question Endometriosis question

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had endometriosis, and if so, what were the symptoms that led up to the diagnosis. I have been having a really nasty pain, and I want to ask my dr about it. Dont want to look like a hypochondriac though.
Thanks

HI there!

If you look at the sticky at the top of this page under "Cronic pain/non stop bleeds" You will find some links I posted and my full story on Endo.

Endo is a very challaging disease. There are a few treatments but no sure cure. Many women who can have a Lap done(surgery to DX and treat endo) do get some relief. But unfortunatly it can return. So the type of treatment is very important.

Read my info, it should explain all I went through before we figured out what I was dealing with. Yes, I DX myself with endo.
I just had to have a surgen confirm it.

I also has a more severe form with it called adenmyosis.
It is the endo that attacks the uteris and is usually the main cause of the pain. If you are wanting to have children let me know and I can discuss your options with you so you don't have a big surprise at the DR's office.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
I have lots of info I can share.

Good luck Hunting,

Patty

I was just diagnosed and symptoms for me are:

Severe Pelvic Pain
Pain w/ bowel movements
Pain in rectal area
Pain in lower back
Pain in lower abdominal region
Pain urinating (felt like it was difficult to get my muscles to work)
Blood in stool
Pain during/after bowel movements
Blood after intercourse
Pain after/during intercourse
Unable to get pregnant
Abnormal bleeding (pretty much bled all the time)

I was being treating for: hemorrhoids, diarrhea and then the gyn put everything together for me. I had no idea they were all related. I had kept a diary (with dates) of all my symptoms and she was really able to help me out.

Good Luck - hope this helps

I wouldn't worry about sounding like a hypochondriac. There are other conditions out there that share similar symptoms with endometriosis. I had a uterine fibroid, and had the majority of symptoms that Olivia named, plus a few more like constipation, frequent urination, belly swelling up so big and round that I looked like I was 9 months pregnant.

It's best to go to dr and find out exactly what it is and learn your options on how to treat the condition before rushing into any treatment. When I was first diagnosed, my dr recommended a hysterectomy but asked me what I wanted to do. I decided to try BCPs at first because I wasn't sure about what effects the surgery would have on my PCOS. After about a year later, no relief, and a visit to the ER where the dr treated me as a headcase, I opted for the surgery.
