Default Endometriosis Questions

To those of you who have endometriosis, what symptoms did you have and how were you diagnosed? Were there certain tests that your doctors ran? I have PCOS and hypothyroid but am still having bad symptoms and worry in the back of my mind that having endo also is a possibility. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I had incredibly bad cramping. Fetal position, carried to the office at school. Bad, Bad bleeding, clotting. I would bleed for weeks on end, stop for a week, start for weeks on end again. Then I would go 6 months without a period.
Mine did not show up on an U/, (most do not). I had a laproscope to see if I had adhesions, and then had laser to remove the adhesions.

I too had HORRIBLE cramping from my very first period at the age of 11 and clotting. When I was young (in jr. high and high school) I would miss at least one day of school a month for it. And I remember taking warm baths to help with the cramps and passing out from the pain in the bathtub! Not very smart. I also had horrible pains in my lower right abdomen when I would ovulate - to the point where I would be in the fetal position then too. That is what sent me to the dr - the first one said well, deary, you are ovulating - take advil and it will go away. The second one said it was probably endo and did a lap and found endo and a uterine fibroid the size of a golf ball. Pain and clotting are a pretty big theme with endo. GL to you!

I didn't start having endo symptoms until I went off birth control in 2004. From then on my periods became more and more painful. Then, beginning in October of last year, I started having a lot of ovarian pain that lasted all month long. I had terrible ovary pain during orgasm (sorry if that's tmi) and pain with intercourse; stabbing ovary pains all the time, sometimes so bad I would cry in the fetal position for hours and my husband would insist on taking me to the E.R.; bladder pain; and terrible bowel symptoms and pelvic pain with b.m.'s.

I saw several doctors that kept passing the pain off as pcos, but my G.P. finally referred me to an obgyn/surgeon who was wonderful. He tested me for interstitial cystitis due to my bladder symptoms (negative) and ordered a colonoscopy (also negative). After those tests came back clear he did a laparoscopy, which is how I was diagnosed. Surgery is unfortunately the only way to diagnose endo, but it's definitely worth it if you have bad symptoms. It's nice to know what's wrong.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. I know when I was looking for a diagnosis, I wanted to know everything I possibly could.
