Thumbs up Endometriosis recurrence?

Hi ladies,

I'm scheduled for a laprascopy on 5/27. This'll be my 8th surgery overall, but only #6 on my belly. I had a lap in 2000 where they found only two endometriosis lesions, and that was my last abdominal/pelvic operation until now.

I've heard- both from doctors and patients- that endometriosis never really "goes away". It can linger latently and spread over time. Since it's been 8 years since the last time anyone poked around inside, I'm wondering what the odds are that it's come back. I won't get into my entire medical history and symptoms (that'd take all day!), but let's just say that based on how painful my 4 menstrual cycles last year were (the first ones since 2001), there's a good chance that the endo is baaaaaaaack.

So my question is this: has anyone else had an experience where they had surgical treatment for a small amount of endo, and years later more (even a LOT more) was found in another surgery?

Thanks for your time,
AK

My sister has it and she had been getting surgeries every 8-12 months for years. After she got pregnant the first time it slowd down and after her second, he's 4 she's only had to go once. but she dosn't have PCOS so it could be different with it being a cyster thing

Just had my surgery this morning...

Here I am with ridiculously low estrogen (haven't tested my estradil as over '40' in years!), and yet I have severe PCOS and was just upgraded to stage II endometriosis today.
