Question Endoscopic Surgery?

Hello everyone! I was dx with PCOS about a month ago and I have been on Met eversince and today I went back to my OBGYN to get some blood drawn. I have to call him friday to see what the results are but he said that if my levels are not getting any better then he would have to do surgery. He didn't really say much about it and I was shocked so I didn't think to ask. I was wondering anyone else has had endoscopic surgery due to PCOS or knows anything about it? Thanks

Hi I had a laparoscopy which ended w/ an ovarian wedge resection. I had normal periods for over 2 years w/o meds. Cysts only came back after I was given lupron for 6 months. I am on Provera now, & actually want another surgery since the side effects of the Provera & PCOS are killing me...slowly. lol!

I don't know about endoscopy- when I had that done, the dr put a camera down my throat to look at my stomach, etc. Unless, it's something else....but I had surgery for PCOS & my hormone levels dropped SO FAST-all symptoms improved. At that time nothing would start my pd. & just caused more pelvic pain!

Thanks for the reply sister GOB. I am relieved to know that someone else has had this. I was not sure if I should be worried about it or not. Were you TTC when you had the laparoscopy? That is what out goal is. I figured that if the Metformin was not working that the Dr would try another medicen I was suprised when he jumped to surgery. At this point we have bee TTC for about 3 years total and we are ready for it top finally happen. I was very relieved with I was dx with PCOS because I felt that at least we had some hope left that we might get to have children. I find out tomorrow if the Dr is going to do the surgery or not I will post when I find out. thanks again.

Hi,
I'm surprised too...every dr. I go to seems to shy away from surgery, but that's my preferred treatment. No I was not TTC. I could barely walk from pelvic pain & was really sick w/ my hormone levels being so out of whack. The surgery does make your ovaries start ovulating on their own, so from my research there is a very high chance of pregnancy following resection or ovarian drilling. But there are also risks of scarring, adhesions, etc. (which I don't care about, lol..)

I think if your case of PCOS is not that bad, there are still fertility treatments that can be done w/o surgery. I can't tolerate all the side effects from the medications for PCOS so I'd rather have that. hope I ans. your ques... Please let me know about the surgery. If they do something to your ovaries, you should have your pd shortly after...
