Default Energy levels on Gluc/Met

I am still working on getting a diagnosis, but have been thinking about the possibility of taking Metformin if that's what the doctor wants me to do. I had a question for those of you who have taken it. Does it help with your energy level/need for sleep?

I posted a message about the amount of sleep people need and found out that I'm not the only one who feels like they need over 9 hours of sleep per night. I am lucky if I get 8. I usually average about 7. When I wake up in the morning, I am so tired/cranky, that I wonder if I might be getting ill. If I were a coffee-drinker, I'm sure I would need a cup or two to get going. Usually I start feeling better by mid-morning. I'm currently following the Body for Life diet and I exercise 6 days a week. I'm not overweight. If I were to take Metformin or Glucophage, would it help me wake up in the morning?

I started taking Met in late October I had a lot of energy but I cant say if it was do to the Met or changing around the carbs I was consuming. I would try it there have been a lot of thin cysters that use the Met also.

Hope someone else can help you also

Hi

I've been on Met since Sept last year. For the first few weeks, I had zero energy, but now I've got back to my 'normal', which isn't 100 pr cent.

I've been on 2000mg a day for a little over a year. It has really helped my energy level. For me, it wasn't so much that I felt I needed more sleep - I just didn't have any 'pep'. No desire to do anything other than just lay on the couch! Now that I'm on met it's hard for me to not do something.

I can still lay on the couch - LOL! - but I'm usually doing something with my hands (sewing, reading, embroidery, etc - not eating!), whereas before I didn't even want to do that. If my husband wants to take a walk around the block I jump right up, whereas before it was just an effort to get off the couch!

I love met!

My dosage was recently upped and I am not really used to it yet so I will have to get back to you on that. Ironically, I currently feel *more* tired from dealing with all of these side effects...LOL
